Having never been to Cornwall before, we found Spring Barn to be a great location if you want to be close to coast, beaches and towns but in a peaceful retreat. Welcome hamper of Cornish produce was a nice touch too. The 3 bedrooms are downstairs, they're spacious, comfy beds and well equipped with adequate drawers etc. Large bathroom with good power shower and separate bath. The utility/boot room was perfect for our dog to sleep and kept any sand/dirt out of the house. The lounge and kitchen are again well equipped and have everything you need for a break. They are ideal size-wise for 4 but I think it's a squeeze for 6, especially the kitchen, it'd be a very tight fit for 6 to eat around the table, 4 was tight. There is no central heating, the house is heated with wall heaters, stand alone heaters, electric towel rail and log burner. House was chilly first day as no-one had been there over Christmas, but soon warmed up with heaters on. Plot is a good size but not totally enclosed, so dogs could easily get out of the open style fencing, something to think about in warmer times of year when doors are open all the time if your dog is a wanderer!
Great location on a quiet narrow road, although we did see the local bus a few times on it! House is surrounded by fields with fabulous 360 degree views to the surrounding hills, golf course and Padstow. 20 minute downhill walk to Rock and the Padstow ferry, 10 minute walk to Trewint village with few shops, cafe, small supermarket. 15-20 minute drive to Wadebridge for a bigger town and Tesco/Aldi. 5-10 minute drive to to Polzeath. We found it a great base for exploring the local beaches which were amazing at low tide. We were very lucky with the weather so maximised the outdoors and even bumped into Gordon & Tana Ramsay on the local coastal path!
All in all a great introduction to Cornwall. Keys were easy to pick up and drop off as we were there in opening hours of the office which is a 5 minute drive from Spring Barn.
Would highly recommend for a family of 4 plus dog!
