The Carthouse is situated in Priddy, a small village on top of the Mendip Hills. Set just under 6 miles from the smallest city in the UK, Wells, which has an array of shops, bars and restaurants for you to enjoy. The Mendip Hills area of outstanding natural beauty can be reached in under 10 minutes for fabulous walks. A visit to the nearby Cheddar Gorge is a must for nature lovers, offering stunning cliffs, ancient caves, and breathtaking views from the top. Wookey Hole, just a short drive away, is another fantastic destination, with its impressive limestone caves, underground rivers, and family-friendly attractions.
Slightly further afield you have the ancient historic town of Glastonbury, famous for both its music festival and its Tor, it has a rich history to explore and uncover. Head to Street for a shopping spree at the designer factory outlet in Clarks Village. The larger city of Bath can be reached in under an hour by car as well as Longleat House and Safari Park. There are plenty of national trust properties including Montacute House and Stourhead, and King John’s Hunting Lodge in pretty Axbridge. For a seaside experience, venture to Weston-Super-Mare, indulge in some classic fish and chips, and enjoy the amusements on the pier!
