First and foremost, Paul is an exceptional host! He truly goes the extra mile for his guests. All questions were answered promptly, and I had a bunch. I asked about a blender and was told there wasn’t one. No problem, I’ll bring one. A few weeks later Paul texted me to let me there is indeed a blender in the house. I don’t know if he bought one for us or not, but it worked great for Margaritas on the beautiful deck! A week after we left, I got text from Paul asking if I left clothes in the house. I didn’t think I did, but when I checked, sure enough I’m missing some stuff (I really thought I triple checked). Paul is sending them to me. I doubt most hosts would go through that trouble; he could have just tossed the stuff.
The Deacon is adorably decorated in fun and whimsical beach theme. Original paintings by Tina adorn all the rooms and are sure to inspire conversations and a smile. Their home is beautiful and well appointed with everything you could possibly need. I like to cook, and I was as comfortable in their kitchen as I am at home. On that note, they are about 15 minutes from Lee’s Market where you’ll find excellent meat, produce, bakery, and beer/wine/spirits. Right down the road from there is fish market for your fresh fish and clams. The home is small, but the layout makes it feel huge. My husband & I, 2 adult sons, their SO’s, and my granddaughter had plenty of room and we never felt cramped. The queen room fit a pack n’play snuggly. The outdoor shower was fantastic! I overpacked! Beach toys? Yep. Chairs? Yes. Boogie boards? They got ‘em. Umbrella? Got that too. My granddaughter loved the little red wagon to go to the beach or for rides up and down the quiet street.
Five-minute walk to the beach. Bring your bikes for miles of beautiful bike trails along the cost. Five-minute walk to the Back Eddy for dinner (make reservations), short drive to The Bayside for a nice outdoor bar and great food. They don’t take reservations, so either wait, hit it right, or better yet - bike there early for lunch.
The Deacon is short drive to Newport, RI; Battleship Cove in Fall River, my granddaughter loved the zoo in Providence, RI, and my son and his GF even drove to the Cape to rent jet skis one day.
This is the place for a quiet beach vacation. This is not a honky-tonk tourist trap, there are no loud bars, or cheap tee-shirt stores. We had a fabulous family vacation! Thank you, Paul & Tina!
