A beautiful place to spend a holiday. The house is very pleasant and very functional. The sound of the waves is soothing. The house is well located for visiting the island. The owner is very welcoming and available.

House is in a residential area overlooking bay with spectacular views. Host is warm a welcoming and gives great instruction and tips. Home is well appointed. Great place to relax away from hustle and bustle and also can use a staring point for exploring the island.

This was our first trip to Barbados for our annual family trip and staying at Father Away made our trip so much better. The house is so welcoming, we could have stayed there and never explore the island. The house was the perfect place to return to at the end of the day. Falling asleep to the sounds of the waves crashing on the shore below was amazing!

Very nice property with the most amazing views of the eastern coast. Thr neighborhood was extremely quiet. Pool was exceptionally clean and had great sun. Huge deck with plenty of space for everyone. It’s called farther away and as a result a rental car is a must. Watch out for the pot holes! The host is amazing and checked in with us before and during our stay. We would recommend this place.

Very non-touristy. The house had an amazing view of the cliffs and ocean. Near constant breeze made the 80-85 degree temp very comfortable. Driving can be intimidating for the first few days

The house was great and clean. The highlight of the place is the amazing view from the patio. We really appreciated it. The host was great and super communication. The only cons is that there was no Air Conditionning so it was pretty warm and humid at night.

What a find! We found Farther Away accidentally. It had been omitted from my earlier searches due to my search criteria including the requirement for A/C. We read the reviews and contacted Caroline who put our mind at rest re the necessity of having this. We used the fans and these were adequate for us.Farther Away is wonderful. Secluded yet within easy reach of local beaches and restaurants but a car is a necessity. The pool was initially a bit on the chilly side, but this improved by the end of our stay. We wondered if it had been topped up prior to our visit. The large deck was fabulous. exceptional at about 600 sqft, and provided a large shady area where you can sit and enjoy Caroline's delicious home made rum punch. We were even wishing for rain in order that we could sit on the deck and watch it fall. The view over Skeetes Bay and beyond, is stunning and can be viewed through the double doors leading out from the lounge and bedrooms. The house is comfortably furnished and spotlessly clean. There are lots of towels for both the beach/pool and for the bathrooms. The showers are excellent! The kitchen is well stocked and we had every utensil and appliance we could have wished for. Caroline responded quickly to all of my messages and it was wonderful to meet her in person - she is lovely! We will definitely return! We had an

First time in Barbados and we picked a great house. Nice quiet neighborhood views are spectacular. Recommend a rental car to get around. We toured the whole island and always great to come back to the house. Caroline was fantastic and very accommodating and communication was great. Highly recommend Farther Away.

Fabulous Caribbean style home that opens up to wonderful breezes, a fabulous balcony and the most incredible views. Caroline was wonderful to deal with and Dave makes the best rum punch. Really loved our time here!

My husband and I had an amazing time at Farther Away. The privacy was just what we needed! We loved waking up to the view of the ocean and the spectacular sunrise.
We had everything we needed in the cottage and Caroline went above and beyond as a host coming out to find us after we got lost. She was always available if we were looking for suggestions or directions for food and entertainment. We look forward to returning to Farther Away! Thank you for everything Caroline!

It was a joy to stay here for three weeks. The constant Barbados sun and the sea breezes off the Atlantic cured our winter blues. The owners have thought of everything you could need including the amazing rum punch.
Farther Away is decorated with an array of Caribbean colours, inside and out, making it a happy place. We did not need air conditioning because of the Atlantic sea breezes. A few things that surprised us - you can drink the water from the tap, the internet is great, neighbours are friendly, and the house is eco-friendly.

This is a villa for people who want to sample the real Barbados on the unspoiled east coast. Your neighbours are friendly locals and sometimes grazing goats!
The view from the balcony is spectacular and it's where we enjoyed all our meals and rum punch!
We rented a car [ highly recommended ] so it was easy to explore all the natural beauty of the rugged east coast
The villa was large, airy and well equipped without a need for air conditioning as the ocean breezes kept everything very comfortable
Caroline and her husband own and manage the property and are excellent hosts, they respond quickly to any requests
For a completely relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable vacation in Barbados you can't beat Farther Away

We loved our time at Farther Away! There is something special about waking up to the sound of the surf and a view for miles up the coast from a fabulous cliff perch!!!
No issues getting anywhere and as a family of surf-bums, who know Barbados pretty well, we had easy trips to Dover Beach, Freight's Bay and Cattlewash (I am too old for Soup Bowl!!!). The rest of Barbados is not hard to get to and we made it to Oistin's regularly,
The only problem we had was that it was so comfortable at Farther Away that it was really really tough to get going past the patio and the lovely plunge pool, whose jets we set our clocks by.
Don't forget to visit the Variety down the street if you go, they are lovely and most of the bus drivers stop there, so if you want the official Barbados Bus Experience, this is where you want to make some friends and get started.
Thanks so much to Caroline, who was lovely the whole time and went to lengths to make sure we were ok!

We had the most wonderful time at Farther Away. Christine and David have a fantastic property. They are great a host. The view is unbeatable over the ocean. We had our 2 children with us and it was so nice for them to to have there own room. The deck is huge and the kids loved the hammock. The breeze that runs through the house is wonderful. Christine and David keep the house sooo nice. David's Rum punch is top notch!!! Thanks for the recipe :). David was so nice to meet us at the airport and take is by the grocery store before we got to the house. I would suggest renting a car and exploring the island, so much to see in beautiful Barbados. Thanks again Christine and David. I would definitely book again!!!

Farther Away is a hidden gem on the East Coast. The view from the balcony is breathtaking. The house is well equipped and cozy. Caroline was helpful throughout the whole booking process and arrival, helping us to get to the villa safe and sound. We highly recommend to rent a car if staying at Farther Away. It is a 30 minute drive to get to the beaches on the south coast. Inquire about the Sargassum seaweed before booking as the beach was covered with it. The east coast is more affected by it. However, this did not affect our overall experience with the house. It should just be noted if you plan to use the beach throughout your whole stay. Barbados is a beautiful island, as is Farther Away. Thank you for a great family trip.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Farther Away together with another couple to celebrate my 30th birthday and christmas. We had an amazing time in this beautiful cottage and would recommend it to everyone who is traveling to Barbados looking for a place away from the tourist crowd.
The cottage is nicely placed on a cliff overlooking skeetes bay. The highlight for us was the huge outside deck where we spent almost all our time. The house is very well equipped, especially the kitchen (you would find anything you need and even more). Everything is perfectly clean and maintained - just a place you don't want to leave anymore. :)
Also the owners of the house were the perfect hosts and assisted us with everything before and during our travels: they did grocery shopping for us, so we would have something to eat when we arrived late from the airport, they would check in on us regularly to see if everything was okay, they would come by the house and refill the gas for the BBQ and they would pick us up and drop us in the airport....
There is really nothing that could have been better and we truly hope to be able to come back one day!

I would like to recommend this property to anyone who would like to get away from the hustle and bustle of the western side of Barbados. This property overlooks Skeetes Bay and is on the top of a cliff also overlooking the ocean. The cottage is clean and has all the amenities you need for a great stay. The plunge pool is private and just what you need to cool down while sitting on the backdeck enjoying the view. Caroline the host was awesome and would instantly respond to any questions with great advise as to what to do and see on the island.. I highly recommend this place. Some words of advice - Farther Away is in deed just that - so a rental vehicle is a must. When we were there the beach below was filled with seaweed which is happening right now down the entire eastern side of Barbados (and a a lot of the Caribbean), as a result we couldn't use the beach right by the cottage. I'm told that isn't usually the case just bad luck on our part. There are many other incredible beaches within a 20 minute drive.
Enjoy the view and the breeze, its truly a magical spot, and the rum punch provide as a welcoming gift is wonderful!

As a return visitor to Barbados, I was looking for a specific property on the Eastern coast that would provide my entire family (3 adults and 3 teenagers) with a "home away from home" for Christmas. Farther Away Cottage fit the bill in every way! The location in Bayfield, St. Philip Parrish, is indeed "farther away" from the hustle and bustle and more lavish, touristy Western side of the island, but that's exactly where we wanted to be to experience more of the real local culture. The property is a family built getaway overlooking Skeete;s Bay. The ocean sounds and smells and the incredible views offered the relaxing getaway we all so desperately needed. The teenagers were NOT bored as we pre-booked multiple excursions with either door to door pick-up or within easy driving distance. The cottage is outfitted with virtually everything a family would need to cook, dine on the porch and even do laundry whenever we needed. Oh, and a very nice surprise was waiting for us when we arrived on Christmas Eve, the family's secret recipe for Barbadian Rum Punch! We all simply cannot wait to go back! PS Previously I had always stayed at the luxurious Crane Hotel not far from the cottage - staying at Farther Away is an entirely different, very unique local experience. We even met the neighbors. Caroline, thank you for helping my family make new and incredible memories! Hope to see you again! Christine Hillard and the Smith Family, Bowling Green, KY USA

Our family (husband, wife, & two adult children) stayed here for one week in December 2019.
The house itself is comfortable and charming, colourfully decorated with nautical paintings, photos and homey touches. The living room and 2 of the 3 bedrooms open up to the expansive outdoor veranda, and a magnificent view to the Atlantic Ocean! The covered veranda is where we hung out whenever we were “at home”. It has a hammock, a sizable dining table and chairs, and a good number of very comfortable lounge chairs. In front of the veranda, is a small open patio where we could “sun” ourselves if we wanted.
The hosts had thought of everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible. All towels, beach chairs, toiletries, washer & dryer, CD player & CD’s, plenty of fridge & freezer space was all there if we needed it. Since restaurants are not close by, we cooked many meals in the well-appointed kitchen. The hosts provided every cooking pot, pan, utensil imaginable, plus accoutrements such as spices, teas, vinegar etc. that we didn't have to purchase, but appreciated having. The owner even provided a delicious (secret recipe) rum punch for us to enjoy!
The beds were very comfortable, and the sheets and bedding were good quality and very clean. Each bed came with mosquito netting above it, but we didn’t really need it when we were there. Even though there is no screening on the windows or doors, the warm breeze off the ocean meant that no insects were ever an issue. That breeze was also heavenly to sleep with!
The house is located high on a cliff, overlooking the ocean, and a beach we could walk down to, and swim if we wanted, (though there are much nicer swimming beaches on the island).
The hosts have made it very clear in their write-up that the house is aptly named. “Further Away” is definitely located far away from Restaurants, Bars, Grocery stores and most amenities. Also, the east coast of the island is not as popular for tourists and is not as built-up as the south and west coasts. But if one is looking for a quiet get-away, to relax and regenerate, where nature is still somewhat untouched, this is simply a spectacular location!
We'll never forget that view – at sunrise, with the sun rising over the ocean, in the glorious sunshine of the day, and at night – with reflected moonlight on the water. It was a magical, memorable, magnificent holiday- Thank you Caroline!
PS: The Barbadian people are exceptionally happy, friendly & helpful.
