Spring family fishing
We fell in love with this property from the moment we opened the doors. It was perfect for our family. We were supposed to go fishing, but mother nature reared her head and it rained. The lodge was amazing with so much space and areas to relax. There was room for all of us to play games together or break off for pool, shuffle board or ping pong. The covered areas outside were a real blessing with the rain we had. We will definitely be returning, and hopefully for longer than a weekend!

Great Family Reunion
This is not a house but a compound. The main building has a good kitchen open to a HUGE common room, shown in the photos but more impressive by far, and a few bedrooms. The two best bedrooms are in an out-building with their own cozy living room/parlor. The common areas were expansive enough for our six family groups to gather when they wanted without all being on top of one another. No photos can do justice to the views from the back porch. There are comfortable beds for a small army, but more than 5-6 couples/small families will find sharing the bathrooms limiting. We can recommend Bar-B-Que Chef's Smokehouse nearby, and the guides for striped bass at Guaranteed Fishing Service have remarkable fishing and people skills - they even clean your catch for you!

Family reunion
It was a great property for our needs. The house was big enough to accommodate us. The pool was a plus for the kids. The dumpster was a bit small for our needs because it was partially full when we got there. Excellent property and great host.

Another Great Stay!
My family just completed our second year at Cedar Creek Ranch and I cannot say enough great things about the property and it's owner. Multiple improvements were made from last year, and we thought last year was fantastic. Too cold to swim in then new pool, but it is beautiful, new outdoor furniture in multiple areas, a new 2 door commercial fridge in the kitchen was awesome and allowed us more than enough space for our 40+ dinner guests. New beds in one of the rooms for a "Kids Bunkhouse" was a hit with the younger group. I have booked a lot of VRBO rentals, the owner of this property is a standout and the most communicative I have ever encountered. Pictures are great, but they dont do the total property justice. See you next Christmas for what is now a family tradition.

Amazing location and setup.
Pros: Amazing location, great amenities, super spacious with warm and friendly host……. Cons: Property needs some serious TLC. Everything in prior reviews holds true so I have to admit, nothing was a shock but having those prior concerns fixed, would have definitely made our experience even better.

Great place for large group to gather
We had 27 in our group and had a wonderful stay. The common area is huge and a wonderful area to be in for everyone. Three large tables and lots of barstools. Also, lots of sitting areas for visiting and the view is wonderful. There needs to be a bathroom for the common area and a larger refrigerator. Overall, we had a wonderful time.

Photos do not do justice! Love this place -
We were pleasantly surprised about how large this property and accommodations are. The open area inside main house was large enough for our entire group. Has a detached bunk house, large outdoor kitchen, eating areas, pool etc. Needed more than 2 days to really use all the amenities that were offered. Great views! Love this place!

Family Graduation Weekend
This is the perfect location to host a large gathering and group stay. It's got the club house style set up for the common areas with large multi-bed and multi-shower/toilet bathrooms in three of the bedrooms. This made it easier to double up as guest bathrooms for our celebration with day guests. Very spacious! It accommodated all ages for our group. Other than bringing extra towels and possibly your paper goods, it's all set.

Fantastic Property & Setting
It is very rare that I write reviews, and even more rare that I write one as positive as this one is. My immediate family has grown to 30+ people over 4 generations with my parents being 80 and my great nieces and nephews being toddlers. In the past Christmas had become a one day affair due to the sheer size of our group. This year we rented Cedar Creek Ranch and had the best Christmas in years! The property is outstanding, pictures online do not do the size justice. This is a resort, not a home. The living area, with multiple seating areas, 3 dining areas, a ping pong table, pool table, bar area, and beautiful views of Lake Whitney is likely 3000+ plus square feet...this doesnt include the huge kitchen with bar area and the 4 bedrooms under this roof. Not to mention the adjacent guest house with another living area, small kitchenette, and 2 more bedrooms with multiple sleeping options. The home is immaculately clean, well stocked with kitchen, toiletries, linens, and satellite TVs in many of the rooms. The outside space is equally large and well suited for very large groups. There are 10-12 concrete picnic tables under 2 covered areas, a large bar area, and a huge observation, deck also equipped with table and chairs for watching the sun set over the lake. All of this sits on a large piece of land with ample room for a friendly game of football, hitting a few golf balls from the tee box, or just relaxing and watching multiple generations play and laugh together from the comfort of the covered patio just out the back door of the living space. Couple this great property, with the fantastic owner who is super-responsive and clearly investing in the comfort of their guests, and you cannot go wrong. We have already selected our dates for next year as Cedar Creek Ranch has become a "family tradition" after this weekend!

Christmas Family Gathering
Overall it is a nice place with lots of room to sit inside and has a great outside area for kids to play with access to Lake Whitney. With so many positives there are also some negatives. This is the second year we have stayed there and the facility is beginning to show signs of deterioration. Most of the mattresses on the beds through out the lodging are in serious need of replacement. The bed frame in the first bedroom (back bed) near the front door is in poor condition. The front bedroom has way too much furniture in it. It is also poorly designed - it would be nice to be able to access the back bedroom without having to go through the front bedroom - add a wall in front bedroom so that the back bedroom can be accessed from the outside door. The chairs around the tables are very wobbly and need to be repaired or replaced. Bathrooms were missing either shampoo or shower gel. There was not enough laundry detergent. Some of the bedrooms had fans / lights that did not function. There were no hand towels for the kitchen. A brown recliner in the main lodge needs to be repaired or replaced.

Great owners!
Check in was very easy. The house has 3 huge living spaces that we took full advantage of because we had 25 people in our group. Used the pool table and ping pong table a lot. Great back porch and yard but unfortunately it rained and was cold so didn't get to take advantage of that except the fire pit one night. But did get to see the beautiful sunset. The oven blew out on Sat morning. We contacted the owner and within 30 minutes they were at the house and within an hour they had delivered and installed a new oven. So thankful for that since we were having our family Thanksgiving meal that day. The owners saved the day! Lots of space in each room. Lots of restrooms and showers. The only recommendation would be to bring some of your pots/pans. The ones in the house had seen better days. We would definitely stay here again!

Big, pretty property
Beautiful property and open living room with game room was a great place for gatherings. Everything was great and we enjoyed it. Only things to note was the fridge was not very cold, lack of hot water in the bunk house and low water pressure in kitchen sink. Walking down the lake at sunset was beautiful.

Great Girlfriend Getaway
A group of 12 of my golf friends headed down to the area for a girl golf weekend and stayed here. The large gathering space was great for us and we had a great time. Some minor maintenance things were noticed-light bulbs out etc but nothing to take away from our great time. Host was great-easy to work with and very responsive!!

Hi Jeanne, I checked all of the bulbs and they seems to all be good. In the guest house and adjoining room to the main house you do have to control the lighting from a remote control on the bed stand. I am sorry that was not communicated. I am glad you still had a great time!

We also had a bit of difficulty managing the cooking and keeping of food for all of us in one refrigerator and one oven. But we made it work. It was a wonderful space for us all to be together.

Good Getaway
This place was great for a big group. It’ll be great for family reunions or just a big getaway. The smoker was used the whole time and worked great. The only issues we had were the yellowjackets outside, but we or the owners have no control over them. We couldn’t even find a hive or nest. But all in all I’d give this place a 8.5 out of 10. Some things could be updated in the house and around the property but a great place to stay and would do it again!

Great spot for a family or friends reunion!
We had a great time! We had 9 adults and 9 kids. Plenty of room to spread out and everyone was able to sleep in a bedroom. A few tips if you are renting a boat: There's only one place on the lake to rent from and it's on the other side of the dam (20-25 minute drive). Bring your people with you so you can stay at the south end of the lake, because it's a 30-40 minute boat ride back up to this place. The lake access was great. A little bit of a walk, but you can also drive more than halfway down to get closer. Just a few comments, and I call them "comments" and not complaints because it's a rental, so it's not going to be absolutely perfect. 1) The TVs were a little difficult to figure out because the box in the living room controls both the living room TV and the kitchen TV. Makes it a little difficult to change the channel on the kitchen TV, but not the end of the world. Something probably said this somewhere, but if it did, I missed it. A quick message to the host sorted it out. 2) The internet is really slow, but this place it somewhat in the middle of nowhere so it's kind of to be expected. Just stick with your cell network. 3) The kitchen does have a lot of stuff, but it's a hodgepodge and most of it is well used. Consider bringing a few things of your own or if you need something special. 4) Beware of wasps/hornets, particularly around the bunkhouse. I was stung and my brother-in-law was stung multiple times. Again, just comments. The place was perfect for what we needed and everyone had a great time. Will consider booking again.

Great for large family gatherings!
This was a great place for our large family gathering. There was so much space in the main building, with lots of sitting areas and tables for games! It was very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. Would recommend an upgrade to the coffee maker. Would also recommend a second large refrigerator, but as long as you have a large ice chest, should be fine. There were some general repairs and upkeep needed but overall, the buildings and property are great. The views from the windows in the main house and the patio we so nice. Everyone really enjoyed that. There was lots of space outside for a lot of activities. The covered picnic area was really nice, especially when you caught a nice breeze. The upper deck and outdoor bar was in need of repairs, we didn't spend anytime there, but it could be really cool. The grill area was nice but the grill was a little hard for those of us that don't have experience with charcoal grilling, but we managed and learned something new! The step downs out of the doors along the back of the house were very steep and some of our older guests had issues with those. It would be nice to have handrails or something. Communication with the owner was excellent. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely rent this property again.

Nice place, but lacking upkeep
The house was great for our needs, but was a little unkept. It was big with great amenities for fun like ping pong, pool, and shuffle board. Also super spacious with tons of room, couches, and tables indoors. However, the grass wasn't cut in the back so trying to do anything outside was challenging with the very tall grass. The floors were also not well cleaned as there were multiple dead bees and bugs on the floor near the windows, as well as multiple live flys around the house. Overall, I'd be happy to return if the place was a little more upkept.

I'm glad you enjoyed the house and all of it's amenities. We were having issues getting the yard mowed but we just hired a new service and they are doing a great job. The floors are thoroughly cleaned/mopped before every guest but sometimes insects will die after the floors are cleaned and a live fly will sneak in when you open a door.

Wedding Stay
Our son got married in Hillsboro and this was a great place for our family and extended family to stay. We comfortably slept 16 people and could have had more. Plenty of entertainment inside for kids and adults alike and a great hike down to a beach area on the lake. This place is huge and you feel like you are at a family camp of some sort. Great for big groups and gatherings. I would recommend it to friends and family.

Great space, needs updates
The space and view were amazing. There is a huge room that 25 people can easily live in and not be on top of each other. The fire pit and backyard were exceptional and we spent a good deal of time there. The place was not that clean and a plumber had to be called. Two of the showers never worked while we were there. In addition, guests are required to wash and fold the towels before checkout. If this property was cleaner and updated a bit it would be 5 star. It was super easy to access.

I am glad you enjoyed the property. I do want to note that the house was professionally cleaned and then inspected and touched up the day prior to your arrival so I 'm confident the house was clean. You did contact me late in the day about a couple of the showers that were not working so we sent our plumber out first thing in the next morning and had them fixed quickly. We do ask guests to wash the towels and put them in the dryer before they head out. We provide the washer/dryer/laundry tabs and never ask anyone to fold the towels. Thanks for staying with us.

Amazing place with lots of space
What a place! We stayed for an entire weekend but it wasn’t enough. None of us were ready to leave. One thing however was a bit annoying, and it was the restrooms. All the restrooms were inside the bedrooms, and not a common one. So if you had to use one at night, you would have to do so by not disturbing anyone as you walk past people sleeping. Nonetheless, we had fun. Better than what we expected and better that the pictures.

Perfect for Family Reunion!
The property could use a little refreshing-outdated decorations and the bedrooms could use more lighting. However, it was very clean and comfortable! Plenty of room and entertainment in the main house! We had 8 adults and 5 children, ranging from 5yrs to 15mos. and had no problem getting down to the lake. We're already making plans to come back next year. Also, the property manager was great in responding to any questions I had. Thanks so much for everything! We thoroughly enjoyed it!!!

Great place, no easy lake access
The place is really cool and we would go back for a relaxing fun weekend. The only issues were the AC broke in a room that slept 3, and getting to the water is a hike of 500 yards, through waist high brush (not worth it.) The main building is awesome to relax in and if we had picked a cooler time of year the back area was great also.

We are glad you enjoyed your weekend. I apologize one of the A/Cs went out. The Texas heat is hard on the HVACs, but we are having it repaired now. This house sits on a lot of land and the walk is about 330 yards from the back of the house. The path to the lake is supposed to be mowed regularly so will make sure that gets fixed.

A slice of heaven!
We had such a fun time at the Cedar Creek Ranch. It was perfect for our family reunion! Everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom. Plenty of space to spread out and have fun. The place was clean and accommodating. Beautiful view of the lake. Amazing sunsets. The only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

Huge home. But you gotta not mind sharing bathrooms.
Huge location!! So much space within the main house. We had a lot of teens & they enjoyed it. The main house has a massive great room that has a view from the kitchen & four living sitting areas, two dining tables. Not to mention the 12 or more concrete picnic tables outside with a bar area & a charcoal grill & a smoker for cooking. Though there is no common/half bath to use without going through a bedroom. The second house was not bad. Though the room with singles bed’s showers did not work so once you start using the other bathroom in that building the pee traps from the other side (assuming because their dried out from lack of use) begins to have a smell. We resolved in by pouring a bit of water down the drains on the non working shower side. Then used the rugs to place over the unused shower drains & it helped. But them not working creating a backup in the other bathroom for 8 people to share. All but two bathrooms have two toilets & two showers, again two showers in one room did not work but we managed. For over ten years I’ve bedn renting homes at different lakes & have come to carry a lot of things with us however the kitchen we well equpit. However we had wished there might’ve been a second or larger regrigerator. I suggest a couple fans as a couple rooms were warmer than the rest. Otherwise the A/C works great. Great location.

Wonderful family place
The pictures do not demonstrate the true size of this place; it is HUGE! A few of the downsides were: 1) it's a walk downhill to the lake/uphill on your way back so younger kids and older adults may be out of breath. 2) there is not a direct access to a restroom without going into other bedrooms. 3) a couple of chairs at the big table were very fragile. 4) the guesthouse smelled horrible; perhaps a plumbing problem needed to be addressed. Otherwise the large room was our highlight; perfect for hanging out altogether. The outside grill/tables were also awesome for hanging out.

We did have a septic company check out the odor in the guest house and he said its sediment in the p-traps which we had cleaned and seems to have solved the issue.
