From my personal experience, this hotel is one of the two best hotels in Windermere. The hotel building was built in 1896 and has a history of 126 years. The hotel is close to the lake, and the scenery is excellent. Whether sitting on the grass next the lake, on the terrace outside the hotel, or in the room, the lake and mountains in front of you, and the misty sunset, is just like a dream, making people look forward to the time stop at this moment. The restaurant of the hotel is excellent and every dish does not disappoint. The hotel staff are very friendly and make you feel just right. Of course, I also visited the towns of Ambleside, Bowness and Windermere recommended by many people, and also experienced the restaurants in the towns. But to be honest, in comparison, the hotel's scenery is far better than the scenery in these three towns, and the restaurant is much better than the good restaurants in these towns I’d tried. If you don't hike around the lake, in fact, it is the best choice to enjoy the scenery of the lake and mountains quietly and taste delicious food in the hotel.

Second visit Hotel is lovely. Would benefit if it had a Spa /gym for when if rains. We did miss having a fridge in the room. Staff are excellent. All meals are brilliant. Plenty of parking. Bus stops 7 mins walk enabling us to use hop on buses.

Tired in every way !

Weekend Celebration for a delayed 60th Birthday due to Covid,. Sadly a poor welcome at reception and a very tired venue, under staffed with poor customer service. Hotel was driven by the kitchen and not the customer. So excited about the trip and sadly very disappointed.Wont be returning .

Easter weekend.

The location is amazing, fantastic views and so tranquil. The hotel is pretty special but clearly very tired and in need of a refresh. Food at dinner was great. Service and food quality at breakfast was disappointing. I think clearly struggling with staffing, as most other places. The staff they do have were truly lovely people, with some very new colleagues, all seemed to be hard working. Just seemed short on numbers. Bed was very comfy.

The hotel is beautiful, and in a beautiful position on the lake. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable. The restaurant has fantastic views of the lake.

Beautiful Victorian building in a perfect position on the Lake. Very comfortable rooms. What made our stay so memorable, however, was the wonderful staff. From moment of arrival, everyone we dealt with was super helpful, friendly and attentive. The restaurant staff, the receptionists, bar staff - all very professional and pleasant. We had a dog with us and they couldn’t have been more happy to welcome her. A really lovely hotel.

The food in Langdale chase is exceptional with pleasant and helpful staff where nothing was too much trouble. With great views across Lake Windermere I would definitely recommend this hotel

Lovely stay but hotel needs that refurb!

Another great stay at the Langdale Chase. Highlights are location, hotel grounds, room with two balconies. We had afternoon tea, which was lovely. Breakfast was hit-and-miss; one morning we had to wait over half an hour for our order to arrive - from a customer service point of view the offer of extra coffee etc would have been nice, as part-compensation for the wait. Hotel decor is outdated and we’re told will be refurbished in October 2022.

A magical place in amazing surroundings The staff went above and beyond to make are stay special from reception staff to housekeeping And especially the restaurant staff who set up a special room so myself and wife could enjoy are wedding anniversary so attentive and nothing was to much trouble 5 star service

Great location

Classic room with small balcony and STUNNING views of of the sunset over the lake. In the morning we watched the lake appear from the mist during breakfast. Dinner very good indeed (recommend: tempura cauli and chicken with tarragon, pancetta & lentils). Breakfast excellent.

Mid week break

Excellent stay as usual ,beautiful room with fabulous views and very clean. Food very good but it would be good to have some slightly plainer options on the menu. Service excellent from every member of staff and nothing was too much trouble, very accommodating when request were made .
