Sadly no warning on website that hotel cannot be reached by car. Except for link to google maps. You will go round in circles unless you know this. It took phone call to hotel to confirm this. The nearest car parking is a 10 minute walk and overnight parking only until 8am so early start. Steep staircases to garret room and airless. Two fans running all night so minimum sleep. Wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

Do not stay in room 2!!! Below reception and you hear the roller chairs morn and night and pub next door delivers 30 kegs starting at 6:50 am!!!! If you are touring and need a great night sleep this is NOT the room for you.

Woken at 5.30am by a delivery of beer barrells from the alley and lasted a full 2 hours our room was right above this and no mention of this from the hotel. A real disappointment.

Very lovely and quirky original building, staff very friendly on arrival, room was very clean and we loved the originality of the decor, bathroom and shower facilities were also spotless. Big problem is the noise, we stayed in room 8 which has windows that face onto the entrance, which I believe looks to be shared with what looks like access to rear of other shops. Noise from around 5.30 am through to past 7.30 is very loud indeed , like metal trollies being dragged along cobbles, it is almost unacceptable.

I booked specifically for the stone ceiling room because the room looked beautiful. I didn’t realize that it was technically a basement room. There was an unpleasant smell that made me feel a bit ill. I mentioned it to staff who tried to help but because it wasn’t a hazard they couldn’t do anything. Apparently it was caused because of the rain which… England rains a lot so that’s not great. They were fortunately able to me offer a different room the following evening but if that other room had been booked they wouldn’t have done anything about it. Had I decided to move to a different hotel they informed me they couldn’t guarantee me a refund and I would have been out near $440. Which meant “sleeping” (but not really able to sleep) in the room for the first night. It was very unpleasant. What I will say is that the staff were pleasant, the property is beautiful and the other room they gave me was great. Windows I could safely leave open, not too hot or too cold. Great shower. Also should be noted there is no elevator. So if you have heavy luggage or lots like I did it’s a pain. also not great for very tall people. My friend nearly knocked himself out on a beam. Incredible location tucked away down a close feels sort of removed from the hustle and bustle of the busy streets. Close to most things you could need. Walking distance to tons of great shops cafe and sights. I received a complimentary glass of wine upon arrival.

It was a lovely little hotel. Staff were extremely friendly and chatty. The room (room 1) was initially great- very unique. After a while though you realise how dark the room is (and stays that way). It was also quite a warm room with lack of air. That goodness for the fan. Having asthma, a stuffy room wasnt ideal. To summerise though......beautiful hotel, fantastic staff. Most definitely recommend it to anyone.

Judges Court was in a brilliant location, very clean and staff very friendly. But it is not really a hotel. There is no foyer, no bar to enjoy and no restaurant for breakfast lunch or dinner! It is a clean room in a very good location with a nice welcome at reception, but after that it does not offer hotel facilities. So I do question hotel in the name!

Great stay - amazing location and lovely staff. Complimentary glass of wine on arrival which was wonderful. Wish we’d booked somewhere with a bar but that’s personal preference not a reflection of the hotel. Felt a little bit more like a b&b than a hotel. Really clean, good space and all the amenities you’d need. Would have liked a lamp in our room but again that’s personal preference. Bathroom was lovely and the room was spacious. We had room 7 on the ground floor which was ideal for us. Hotel offered to take our cases when we’d checked out too. Also communications from hotel were second to none. Would highly recommend!

From the moment we arrived the staff were amazing! If you’re looking for a quirky hotel rather than your bog standard Ibis this is the place for you. Conveniently in the city centre with fabulously interesting rooms

Great location. In the centre and short walk to the sites we wanted to see. Parking was a little further than we expected but was fine and easy, only paying on exit for the time you’ve been there. Our only negative was the creaking floorboards above us and being able to hear a lot from the room above us. We were in a basement room (room 4). The guests in the room above got up at 6am and had a bath and we heard everything. A bath being filled, used and then emptied from above is much louder than we expected. That along with voices, them walking about and what we think was the coffee machine, we weren’t going back to sleep. Other than that it was great. Just make sure you don’t have a lower floor room if you sleep light

We stayed in the dungeon. This was a room in the basement with little light and ventilation. It was directly below the main entrance and was extremely noisey. We was woken almost every hour. The worst part was at 6am when beer barrels was rolled down the alley for 30 minutes. It was also extremely warm. We couldnt open windows as we was on ground level and vermin could enter the room. We also had tea stains, something disgusting near the toilet roll, a bobble with hair behind the bathroom door and a large hole in the wall. Hotels.com list this as 5 star when in fact its a 4 star.

Bubble bath delight !
Hotel staff were very friendly , a complimentary glass of wine each upon arrival . We loved our room and the MB toiletries were a delight especially for the bath in our room. The only slight downside was the noise from a brewery delivery next door at 6am . I’d still go back and recommend

Really lovely central hotel. Staff go the extra mile with little touches. The room was clean, spacious with a good selection of complimentary hot drinks section. Molton brown bath products. Definitely will come back.

Poor mattress - Poor sleep
Lovely hotel, set back from the Main Street so nice and quiet. Staff were friendly. Decor is a bit tired but the main problem was the mattresses. We had a twin room and both mattresses were from Argos, very cheap, very uncomfortable and you could feel every spring. We both had a very uncomfortable nights sleep which is the only reason I would not recommend this hotel.

Had a excellent stay at judge's court the staff are fantastic nothing is to much trouble for them room was clean and very comfortable will definitely stay agin10 minute walk from the train station and in the town center excellent location
