We rented Boulder Ridge expecting a professionally managed vacation home.During the evening of July 4 we observed multiple live mice running throughout the kitchen. We then pulled out the oven and refrigerator and discovered extensive mouse droppings and accumulated dirt in food preparation areas as well as along the floor edges in the kitchen. We tried to prevent the rodents from coming up through gaps and the kitchen island using duct tape, but they appeared from elsewhere. We immediately notified the property manager through the VRBO messaging platform and by telephone, which we had earlier used to exchange messages about a power outage. But our messages went unanswered and no assistance was provided during our stay.Because it was the evening of July 4 inside Yosemite National Park, relocating two families late at night with four young children was not a practical option. We reluctantly completed the stay because we had no reasonable alternative, not because the condition was acceptable, and left in the morning without making breakfast. We understand that mice are a problem in Yosemite. But failing to close obvious gaps that serve as access points to mice and leaving mouse droppings lying around the kitchen is simply unacceptable for an place where guests will eat, play and sleep! Especially in a region with endemic hanta virus where previous outbreaks have occurred, and it is known that mice are the primary carrier of the virus! We are requesting a full refund.
