The impressive Menin Gate monument is a few short blocks away from the town square of Ypres. The massive British War Memorial was built to commemorate the unaccounted war dead of World War I. Over 54, 000 British Commonwealth soldiers’ names are carved into the stone, echoing their sacrifice. A must-experience is The Last Post that is held every evening at at 8:00 p.m. and has been done so since 1928. Arrive at least a half hour before the ceremony in order to get a place to stand.

"Petite déception à l'arrivée; la piscine était toute verte , le problème a été réglé avec quelques difficultés en six jours ( nous avons eu droit à un petit dédommagement) Un effort serait à faire quant à la tenue du jardin : pelouse non tondue , jardinières de mauvaises herbes , pot de plantes séchées. Concernant le logement rien à dire , bien équipé , chambres spacieuses , déco à l'ancienne."
