“Lovely accommodation, great location and welcoming hosts. Definitely recommend.”

“We had a wonderful stay at 1 Apse Castle Cottage — a beautiful, character-filled retreat nestled in peaceful woodland. The cottage is spotless, thoughtfully decorated, and full of charm, with a cozy log burner, luxurious bathroom, and a well-equipped kitchen. Beds were super comfy, and everything felt welcoming and homely. The location is ideal for exploring Shanklin and the wider Isle of Wight. We especially appreciated how dog-friendly it was — our pup loved it! Truly a magical place. We’d……

“A very nice apartment with excellent sea views. Lounge/dining furniture a little tired but functional. Everything very clean.Guest guide book was not updated for 2026. There was guidance provided to connect a smart TV to the internet and how to access Netflix etc but the actual TV provided was made in 2008 and predated these facilities! Tried to contact the host regarding access door key instructions but call not returned. It would have been useful to have had small waste bins in the bedrooms……

“Perfect accomodation for 2. Clean, everything at hand. Quit location altough in the middle of Shanklin and only a few minutes walk to the sea. Wifi was a bit slow.”

“This flat is lovely, clean, light and airy. The location is fantastic - just swimsuit on and walk straight down to the beach! The flat had everything we needed. I chose this location for speedy access to the beach, buses to elsewhere on the Island, and food shops - all really close. For swimmers I recommend checking when high tide is, for me high tide is the best swim experience on Ventnor beach. Low tide you are wading through rocks a little bit, but don't let that put you off, you can still……

“Location was perfect. 5 minute walk to beach and old Shanklin. lovely and a very good sized house. Service from the Island company was great when we advised the rug smelt of dog likely from previous guest. Came and collected rug. Maybe just make it clearer there is a tight turning to access rear of property for parking. We had no issues but less confident driver may struggle but doesn’t detract from lovely stay in the property and week on the island.”

“The cottage is full of character. Lovely walks. Kitchen well equipped for Xmas catering. Generous welcome basket. It was wonderful. Nothing. It was perfect thank you.”

“It was clean and fully equipped for family self-service stay. Thank you. It would be nice to have an ensuite master bedroom (perhaps not applicable to this property now, but I will look out for one next time). Also, we would have preferred a lock on the master bedroom door. Otherwise, spot on!”
