Elegance, comfort and scenery

Following its recent refurbishment, The Tarbet Hotel blends historic elegance with modern comfort in a stunning location, great for hillwalkers and couples. My only critique is that the dinner service was a bit slow and the menu felt like poor value for money, but we enjoyed the fish pie and chicken schnitzel. Breakfast was exceptional!

Room was large and pleasant. The food was on the salty side but ok. Breakfast was understaffed but the staff present were lovely, just not enough to keep the buffet supplied well or clean the tables. Think the hotel a solid option for the area and reasonably priced.

The Tarbet hotel was our favorite stay of our 9 day trip to Scotland. The historic building on the shores of loch Lomond was peaceful and serene. The staff was great and even upgraded our room for free which was a real treat. The restaurant and drinks were good as well. The real show stopper is the view of the loch and the location.

Good stay, great views

We only stayed one night at the Tarbet hotel, it was a stopover for the journey from Skye. We found it perfect to be honest, its in a great setting opposite the loch, you can get the ferries across if you want to. The room was a bit tired but it was quiet and clean. The bar area was really nice and the breakfast good. We found the staff lovely and helpful, would definitely recommend.

The location is next to the road and has a beautiful park. It might have some traffic noise but it doesn't bother me. I stayed 218 with a lake view. The bed was not too comfy but ok. It was an old castle. Seems outdated (not new) but clean. Also, I'm not picky. They make the most amazing breakfast during my two-week trip to Scotland and England. It was affordable too. Thanks to one of the staff members bringing me coffee at 5:00am when I sat in the lobby by myself. That was really nice and my trip was made better by someone kind.

Hôtel désuet sans intérêt particulier

Ce fut certainement un très bel hôtel, mais il mériterait quelques rafraîchissements, notamment l’ascenseur. Son architecture particulière vous emmène dans un dédale de couloirs, et la vue sur lac n’est pas grandiose (qq bouts seulement). Par ailleurs des travaux de voirie avaient lieu toute la nuit devant l’hôtel, créant du bruit et des bouchons importants. Heureusement que nous ne donnions pas directement dessus. Le PDJ était varié mais d’une qualité moyenne : bacon moyen, omelette reconstituée, fruits ok. Le personnel n’était pas très attentif au service. Restauration sur place mais dernière commande à 20h30, dépêchez vous car les qq restos alentours font pareil, et la dernière option possible (fish and chips d’arrochar) est horrible. Le pire hamburger de notre vie : du pain, un steack reconstitué et c’est tout !

Great locating, below average facilities

The hotel has an amazing location and the building looks stunning. Sadly, it’s quite run down. Rooms look alright, if you don’t look too closely, but in desperate need of an upgrade. Service in the restaurant was really disappointing.
