「It’s was lovely! A very special and beautiful property! Wonderful to be able to walk to dinner and shops. Unfortunately, with only a one-night stay, the late check-in (4p) and early checkout (10a) felt a bit rushed. It would be best enjoyed with more nights, or a slightly later checkout. 「This is a true “old” Maine experience. The young, energetic staff greeted us with a warm welcome and continually checked to make sure our needs were met. The rooms were decorated in nautical themes. They were not large but well proportioned. Th bed was fantastic. The bed linens and bath towels were excellent and EVERYTHING was spotless. It was such a nice change from commercial properties. We had a relaxing and enjoyable stay. We high,y recommend this lovely inn. 」

    The Criterion in downtown Bar Harbor, Maine, does not look very much from the exterior, but it is a glorious, well-preserved Art Deco style theatre. Opening in 1932, it has served the town of Bar Harbor as a movie palace ever since, accomodating such prominent families as the Rockefellers on their vacations to nearby Mount Desert Island. Kept in fantastic condition over the years, the theatre still has most of its original interior: seats, curtains, and even the original lighting board for stage performances.
