What I did not like was the fact that most times when I book a room at a IHG (Holiday Inn, HI Express) I noticed that I get a room right by the elevator or by the ice machine. I booked as a single, male person and there must be a algorithm in their booking software that most times sticks me in the lousy rooms. This time my room was across the hallway from the floor's ice machine. No door for the room where the machine was to somewhat sound proof it. Instead every 20 minutes the machine created new ice cubes and dumped them out. Clink, Clink, Clink every 20 minutes all night. It was like I was sleeping next to a Las Vegas slot machine - Clink, Clink, Clink. I got about an hour's worth of sleep. In the morning I mentioned this when checking out and was asked if I was a member of the IHG loyalty club so I could speak with the manager. No such luck, I was just non member schmuck no one wants to hear from. I will vote with my feet and never book a room at an IHG hotel again.
