We had a wonderful time at the cabin. There is plenty of space and the screened in porch with the swing is where we enjoyed the most peaceful times. Very clean and easy to get to.
Our stay at The Grey Heron House was perfect for our small group retreat. We enjoyed the beautiful cabin! It was clean, spacious, and the kitchen was well stocked and organized with what you would need to cook for a group. The pool table was a huge hit with the kids. They also really enjoyed the pool & hot tub.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Grey Heron House and found it more spacious and beautiful than the listing portrayed. It was the perfect place to begin a new family tradition following the loss of my grandmother. The college kiddos had plenty to do with the hot tub, disc golf, trails, games, and pool table. Thank you for a perfect holiday get away!
We had a great time! The cabin was perfect for us. It is roomier than it appears and very comfortable. We spent a lot of time hanging out on the screened deck talking and enjoying the view and chorus of the woods. It was also conveniently located to hiking, kayaking at the lake, shopping, dining out and visiting wineries, breweries and cideries!
This was the perfect getaway! I almost hate to comment, because more visitors may mean it may not be available next time we want it! ;) The drive was easy...located only a few minutes from the highway, the roads were easily accessible, comfortable to drive/ride and the driveway was easy to navigate; mostly paved, flat area for parking. The cabin itself was very clean. Well appointed bedrooms and bathrooms. The layout was perfect for multiple families with mulitiple age groups. Large screen porch! Two dishwashers! Multiple porches allow the scenery to be enjoyed from every angle! The adventurous visitors can take the path down to the water. However, the 3 minute drive gets you to the parking area for the river so easily. The riverfront area is perfect for children, fishermen and families! Can't say enough good things about this cabin
From check in to check out we had a great experience. The house was comfortable for eight adults and six teens to eat, watch the football game, and hang out on the main level deck with a large dining table (sits 10). There’s also a large dining room table and chairs on the main level, next to the kitchen. Ten family members went on the Blue Ridge train ride, then came back to the cabin to celebrate a 21st birthday. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and prepare the dinner. The kids played pool and watched the football game downstairs, while the rest gathered on the main level to watch the football game. Ten people had to get back to Atlanta, so only four of us stayed at the cabin overnight, so needless to say we had plenty of room.
The cabin was close to the Long Branch hiking trail, and we also went to Mercier Orchard. Both very close to the cabin, and also close to the town of Blue Ridge.
We had a great stay, and hope to come back!
We brought our blended family of late teens to early 20’s kids for vacation. The house was perfect and accommodated everyone comfortably. The location is perfect as it is an easy drive in any direction for various day trips.
The property was in an amazing location and as advertised! Even when the power went out the first evening there, the Owner came and started a generator for us! Plenty of activities and a beautiful setting! Recommend this property to anyone!
House was a perfect layout for our family. Plenty of room for all. Loved the huge table on screened porch. Perfect for meals and games! Kids enjoyed the pool and walk to river. Great weekend.
We had our first Blue Ridge family vacation here (5 adults, 1 toddler, 2 dogs). The cabin was great and had ample space for us to all hang out without feeling cramped. We made sure to utilize all the great amenities not only in the home, but also out in the community—the little playground, disc golf course, community pool, and walking trail down to the river. Overall we made some wholesome memories here and we enjoyed our stay!
Greg was very accommodating for everything we needed. House and kitchen are well equipped. Lots of room, satellite TV, hottub, grill, etc. Everything we needed to have a little family getaway. Thanks again Greg!!!
Our family and two other families enjoyed a weekend together at this beautiful mountain retreat. We all had little children, and this was the perfect cabin for us. We had plenty of space to be together and plenty of space to spread out. Everything we needed for a relaxing, easy weekend was there. We enjoyed the incredible views from the various decks, and the children loved the freedom to play outside. Thank you for a wonderful, wonderful weekend. We look forward to coming back next year!
The house was perfect and provided us with everything we needed. There was plenty of room to accommodate our family of 3 children, spouses and grandchildren! We enjoyed the pool and surrounding area. Greg was a wonderful host and very responsive to our needs. We experienced a power outage due to a storm while there and he responded immediately with a generator to restore our electricity and water until the power company was able to get the power on. Hope to return in the future.

Wonderful, relaxing stay!
Overall, a wonderful experience! We had 3 families and all had plenty of space and privacy. The kids loved the hot tub, pool table and bunk beds in the lower level. Beautifully decorated. Beautiful river. Owners/property manager very helpful and laid-back, eager to ensure a great stay! Only suggestions - the outside upper deck was in need of a little cleaning and the house could have been a tad bit cleaner...however, I am a CLEAN FREAK AND GERMOPHOBIC, so I have very high expectations. I'm sure the average renter would find it to be more than acceptable!

It was ok for neighbors to make noise but not us
We set out on the back porch Eating breakfast listening to my neighbors making noise down at the river But time we started playing games and making up a little noise it became a problem So if you go to this cabin please be quiet
We had such a wonderful time in blue Ridge celebrating my Mom's 70th birthday which falls 2 days after Christmas. We wanted to do something special for her with the family and boy did this house fit all our needs. Everyone was comfortable and had everything they needed. We rent places all the time, but our parents don't so of course they overpacked not thinking about what VRBO hosts would provide. We had such a wonderful time cooking, hiking and my brother thought ahead and brought his fishing pole. TONS of great fishing, but he's a catch and release kinda guy. We have rented in Blue Ridge before, but needed a much bigger house this time. This place has tons of different "hangout" areas so everyone is spread out and happy. We always bring the dog so it really felt like home and that is really important to us. The kitchen is very well stocked, which is important cause we have several family members that don't hike, but love to cook. We visited the Dickey Family Cemetery while we were there and learned a lot. I even got my Father-in-law who doesn't get out and walk that much to come and see this historic site. Thanks so much for opening your gorgeous home to me and my family. We will be back for sure!!
