"The bus stop right outside takes you in to York which was very handy and we were able to leave our car on the hotel car park all day. "

"Wonderful stay. Clean room (although strong smell of drains), very comfy bed. Great to have a bath and a separate shower. Food was amazing. Pork crackling, rump steak and seabass all cooked to absolute perfection. Cheeseboard taken to room was a great late night supper! Breakfast was superb. How they managed to get my poached egg transported up to the furthest room from the kitchen, and it still be perfectly cooked, amazes me! Every member of staff was friendly, efficient, polite and helpful. All are a credit to the Hall. Will certainly return as soon as finances allow! "

"Unfortunately there was a large amount of building work going on and out room directly overlook the building work so no view whatsoever ever. Asked about a room change and the duty manager said there was nothing available didn’t offer any alternatives and didn’t ask if we would like to upgrade at a cost to ourselves. "

"No curtains in the room, just ill-fitting roller blinds, it felt a little like a youth hostel rather than a hotel room. The iron we asked for covered my white shirt in black gunk (my fault for not checking the plate but disappointed staff would give out such rubbish). Extractor fan in bathroom broken, very uncomfortable old soggy mattress. Staff were lovely, breakfast average, quiet overall in the rooms. "
