Quiet and peaceful
We spent a week at Cowdea. Valerie is a lovely host and it was a pleasure to meet her.
We had a lovely stay with all the apple trees fruiting and nosing at the hedgerow berries. The weather was lovely and we took advantage of the enclosed garden which was perfectly safe for the dog. We enjoyed eating and relaxing in the garden. (Maybe a small bird feeder would be a nice addition to the garden. So that we could see the small birds).
We always do a small online shop to be delivered shortly after our check in. We would recommend this as there isn’t a local (walkable) shop near by. (After a long journey, a small welcome pack of tea/coffee and some milk would have been greatly appreciated). The kitchen is nicely equipped with the basics for holiday cooking.
We walked to Shave Cross inn for their Wednesday quiz night (first Wednesday of the month). It was also curry night. The quiz was good fun and the dessert was deliciously homemade (rhubarb, apple and blackberry crumble).
This property is a nice base for exploring west Dorset.
