We notified the host at 9 am London time that our plane was cancelled and we wouldn’t arrive til 12am. We asked him for a code or key location. He said he’d take care of it. By the time we arrived in Bucharest it was 1 am. He had changed the apartment address 3x. The last text sent us to a back parking lot of a hospital. Then he texted to pick up the key at a store - that had closed at midnight. The next store he insisted was open 24 hrs- when we arrived there, it was dark and closed. We then asked the patient uber driver to take us to a nearby hotel- that luckily had a room at 3 am. He texted at 4 am that he would contact “first thing” in the morning. We started texting and calling him at 8 am with NO RESPONSE. At 11 am we had to check out of CNN our room - to sit in the lobby. At noon, we connected with VRBO, who cancelled our reservation and suggested we rebook a different property. We managed to find something luckily. The host started texting us at 1 pm with “good morning”….. we indicated we had cancelled and rebooked another property. He then harassed us until we blocked him. He has messaged us that we are now “banned” from his property and I understand left a negative review of US! There should be a better plan for a renter to get a key to the property. We have used VRBO several times and never have had a problem with accessing the property. We booked this several months and paid in advance.
