Palheiro Verdelho is housed in a building with three apartments, called Palheiros do Serrado. Its modern traditional design has been specially designed to offer maximum comfort and quality.

Quaint cottage!

We were 3 people that stayed in this quaint little cottage. We found it to be a great launching point for the activities we had planned at the following locations: Porto Moniz, the natural pools in Seixal, the beautiful pebble beach at Ribeira Janela, and Levada 25 fontes. Hikes at Pico Arieiro and Sao Lourenco were approx. 1 hour away. It is a very well-appointed cottage, furnished with 2 very comfortable sofas, and comfortable beds. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need if you choose to cook. There is a small grocery store located just a 2-minute drive from Verdelho. I celebrated my birthday during my stay at Hayloft Verdelho. While Tiago was replenishing our breakfast supplies, he surprised me with a box of artisanal chocolates, a gesture that was so thoughtful...and completely unexpected. As other reviews have mentioned, the upstairs bedrooms were warm. There is a small fan in one of the bedrooms and a powerful fan in the living room. The property has 3 cottages, but the parking lot has room for only 2 cars. A beautiful place to stay!

Wonderful place

It hast been a wonderful stay. Everything was clean, we found everything we needed. The communication worked well (even if we haven't seen the Manager, but it was not needed, so we are fine with that). The three cottages are close to each other - but it worked quite well with the neighbours. The only drawback are the dogs in the house over the street - they we're barking a lot and didn't calm down during the night, that was really annoying. Anyway, we did enjoy the barbecue and fireplace, the lizards, the falcon, the hammock, the sun and the cooler breeze, and the good starting point for diving and hiking.

Traumhaftes und gemütliches Haus mit allem was man braucht

Unser Aufenthalt im März war wunderbar - angefangen mit der ersten leckeren und sehr vielfältigen Ausstattung mit Essen und Getränken für morgens und abends über das wunderschöne und noch sehr neue Haus inkl. eigener Sauna im Haus (Eukalyptusbäume wachsen übrigens direkt 200m weiter oben an der Straße) bis zur Kommunikation mit Tiago. Einzig im Sommer könnte es oben im Schlafzimmer etwas warm werden, weil sich außer den beiden Eingangstüren unten und oben keine Fenster öffnen lassen. Aber damit hatten wir im März bei um die 20 Grad keine Probleme.

Quiet refuge in the country

Had a great weeklong stay at the Verdelho house. Private sauna, 2 tiny bedrooms were enough for us. True that the upstairs can get hot on a warm day but there's a fan in the room and other good ventilation options. Tiago was very responsive and met us on check-in. A beautiful place, thoughtfully crafted. A steep stairway may be difficult for those with limited mobility. Our fridge was stocked with generous breakfast options for the week. Excellent quiet location, well-placed for any hikes on the West side of Madeira. Can't wait to come back!

Schön, sauber, aber leider auch zu warm

Über Whatsapp wurde mit uns kurz vor Ankunft Kontakt aufgenommen und detailliert beschrieben, wie wir zum Objekt finden und auf der Insel allgemein zurecht finden können, einschließlich diverser Tipps. Empfangen wurden wir entgegen einer vorherigen Ankündigung in einer Email nicht, was nicht weiter schlimm war, da wir uns weitestgehend alles selbsterklärend war. Ungleich der Fotos auf Fewo gab es zum Glück 2 Sofas, die den Aufenthalt im kühlen Erdgeschoss weit komfortabler machten als noch angenommen. Die Sauna haben wir aufgrund der frühsommerlichen Temperaturen nur 2x genutzt. Auch, weil es im Obergeschoss keine Klimaanlage gibt und Durchzug für eine Kühlung im Schlafzimmer unter dem Dach nicht möglich war. Ein Lüfter hat zwar etwas die Luft verwirbelt, aber mehr auch nicht. Das schöne Fenster mit Ausblick zum Meer lässt sich nicht zu öffnen. Der Kühlschrank war üppig für die ersten 4 Tage gefüllt, dann nahte bei Käse und Wurst das Verfallsdatum. Auf Nachfrage wurde aufgefüllt, allerdings beschränkte sich die Käseauswahl auf sehr einfachen geschmacklosen Käse. Weil wir keine Wurstesser sind, wurde auf unseren Wunsch eingegangen, diese dann nicht wieder zu liefern. Auf der Homepage wird in einem Werbevideo ein völlig anderes Bild produziert, wie das Frühstück als Inklusivleistung gemeint ist, weshalb wir eine andere Erwartungshaltung hatten. Die Betten waren super bequem, es war alles sauber und nach einer Woche wurde kostenfrei gereinigt und frisch bezogen. Sehr toll, wir hatten den Eindruck, als kämen wir nochmal neu an. Insgesamt eine tolle Unterkunft, nur das Problem mit dem warmen Schlafzimmer ist echt ein Manko.
