The Hotel quinta da Serra is Surround es by a Hufe parc and they grow their own vegetable and strawberries. The delicious food is organic and they also have vegan options. The huge heated pool and the Whirlpool was definetely a Highlight for us and the Kids.

Beautiful place a bit off the beaten path

Beautiful property up in the hills and mountains above Funchal. The gardens are especially impressive. Large, clean and inviting room. Bed a little too hard and water pressure in sink and shower not impressive, otherwise nothing to complain about. Great breakfast - good selection and quality offerings. Also very tasty food in the bar. Sadly no dedicated personnel in the bar, so quite a bit of waiting time before people would come over from the restaurant. But excellent service once they arrived! Good parking as well, a little ways from the front door, and just as well, because you really need a car to stay up here. Quite a ways from anything. May not be ideal for everybody, but I really enjoyed the peace and quiet, and the drive up from Funchal is easy, on excellent roads most of the way.

The room was good and housekeeping staff pleasant and helpful. The Spa, pool and garden were also good. The hotel was let down through reception staff not being helpful, such as giving limited answers re transport, eg, such as telling us shuttle bus bus ran once a day Monday to Friday but failing to say there was a local bus 7 days a week that stopped at main gate. A voucher for a Welcome! free cup of tea or a glass of local cider that apparently only German guests had a taste for, was supplemented by another Welcome Gift! In the room of four tea & coffe sachets, with 2 small portions of milk that would be replaced as required at a cost of €4… There was also a bottle of water. The room contained no hotel info whatsoever so any questions required locating a member of staff who, apart from the afore mentioned reception staff, were difficult to find. The spa bar menu and the evening Henry’s bar menus were supposed to be similar but the evening one was very limited. We were told on our second night it was only possible to order wine by the glass in Henrys after being served a bottle by the restaurant manager the previous evening… To be fair, the buffet breakfast was good, as was the restaurant dinner we had. The restaurant manager was excellent and stood out against other staff, apart from the shuttle bus driver who was also very helpful. The hotel lacked a warm ambiance and had an air of the British Fawlty Towers tv series about it. This is not a 5 star hotel.

The most serene and relaxing hotel I’ve visited! The gardens surrounding the hotel are gorgeous and the food at the restaurant it absolutely delicious! Rooms are spacious with a huge tub to relax in and a firm bed. I would come back in an instant!

Great location for exploring the valleys around Pico Grande and Encumeada. Stunning gardens and very comfortable rooms. Brilliant views down the valley to the ocean. Would have expected more vegan and vegetarian options from a bio hotel but otherwise a very good stay. Will definitely rent a car next time as taxis are very expensive around there and buses are infrequent.

Grossartiger Pool im Park heisst dass das Haus Stil hat und insbesondere das schöne Umfeld prägen. Der Pool ist prima und das Essen in der Frühstückslounge und auch die Halbpension sind zu empfehlen.

Wir hatten über Expedia eine Pauschalreise mit Halbpension im Quinta de Serra gebucht. Das Menü war nicht wählbar, aber wir haben immer hervorragend gegegessen! Am ersten Abend hatten wir sogar ein Abend - Buffet mit Folklore Tanz und Musik, was total nett war. Zum Pool und SPA - Bereich kann ich nichts sagen, da wir diesen kein einziges Mal benutzt haben. Der Hotelpark ist herrlich mit den Eukalyptusbäumen!!! Zimmer voll in Ordnung. Einziger kleiner Punkt Abzug für die "Henrys Bar" am Abend. Irgendwie fühlt man sich da nicht sehr willkommen bzw. war es da immer auch sehr ungemütlich kalt. Draussen (auf der Terrasse vor dem Restaurant) konnte man leider, aufgrund der Mai - Temperaturen noch nicht sitzen. Sollte dies aber mal gehen, kann man den Garten noch mehr dann bei einem netten Drink genießen! Fazit: Das Hotel liegt schon weit oben, die Fahrt ist es aber wert! Wir hatten erst überlegt, ob wir am Meer oder gar in Funchal was buchen sollten, waren aber dann froh, in diese duftende Ruhe am Abend nach den Wanderungen zurückzukommen. Die Zufahrt über die beiden Tunnels von Funchal aus ist einfach zu finden. Wir haben es aber die 7 Tage nicht geschafft den direkten Weg von der anderen Seite zum Hotel zu finden, weil das kleine Straßensystem echt der Wahnsinn ist (was aber auch immer sehr lustig war, weil die Straßen manchmal echt außergewöhnlich steil sind. Supermarkt in der Nähe. Obwohl es am Berg in Jardim de Serra liegt, konnten wir alles auf der Insel supergut erreichen.

Wir waren als Paar unterwegs und hatten einen traumhaften Urlaub im Hotel Quinta da Serra. Der Empfang und der Service waren stets freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir waren 2 Wochen dort und haben uns wunderbar entspannt. Wir hatten HP gebucht und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Es gab ein tolles Weihnachtsmenü am 24.12. und ein tolles Silvester-Dinner eine Woche später. Wir können dieses Hotel nur empfehlen. Allerdings ist ein Mietwagen von großem Vorteil. Wir werden sicher wieder in dieses Hotel kommen.

Prima hotel, schoon, rustig en mooie tuin. Ontbijt is prima verzorg, ook glutenvrij. Als je wat wilt doen moet je wel de berg af wat al gauw 20min kost.

Magnifique

Endroit magnifique dans les montagnes surplombant Camara de Lobos. Nous avons pu profiter de la piscine, du jardin gigantesque et de l'excellent restaurant. Pour les amateurs, le départ de la rando du Pico Grande est à seulement 15min !
