“Our stay at Monteverde Lodge far exceeded expectations! The staff was very communicative in advance of our arrival for check-in timing and assisting with booking activities so that we could maximize our short stay in Monteverde. The property is pristine and rooms are luxurious; we were able to upgrade to an upper level Mountain Gem where the view from our balcony looked atop the cloud forest canopy teeming with wildlife; at one point, a group of koatis and capuchin monkeys were playing together……

“From the moment we got to the hotel until we left, the staff were wonderful. My family and I were greeted with freshly made juice blend that was delicious and our bags were taken to our room. We booked activities prior to arriving but wish we hadn’t because they help you with all of that as well, which includes transportation to and from the hotel. I highly recommend the night walk and zip line activities. We had to leave early in the morning due to an early afternoon flight out of San Jose, and……

“Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was delicious with good portions. Room was clean but a little on the small side for a family of four. Games and books available to use between activities or on rainy days. Lots of dining options within walking distance.”

“There is absolutely nothing to do on the premises. There is nothing but a garden and two eating facilities. The WiFi was good. The breakfast was the same every day.”

“Staff were welcoming and very helpful. They were quite knowledgeable about local attractions, and even sent us a list of recommended restaurants, all three of which we tried were quite good. Breakfast is excellent. The room was functional but spartan. As examples, there’s only one trash can, and the night stand is a chunk of firewood stood on end. There’s no AC, but there’s a huge ceiling fan. The entrances to both the upper and lower parking lots are a little nuts and super steep; you almost……

“This place is luxury in paradise. The setup with 3 bedrooms, open kitchen/living, and all the touches is amazing. The waterfall in the living room was an awesome touch, my 7 year old son loved it! The yard is well kept and great to play and hang during the little off time we alotted in Monteverde. The location is also awesome, with the night tour in Wildlife Refuge Monteverde being one of our trip highlights. It's a five minute walk from the house and a must do! My family with 3 kids would……

“Our stay at Cala Lodge was an absolute delight! What a very special place Francisco and family have created! We loved staying in the Mathilda House. It was perfect for our family of 5, ages 14-82, nestled in the cloud forest with floor to ceiling windows. It was incredible to see wildlife pass by, we felt lucky to be guests in their well-loved and protected forest. We had dreams and conversations with the howler monkeys throughout the night, and agoutis, coatis and diverse birds were easily seen……

“We stayed for three nights. The rooms were spacious, clean, with comfortable beds. The staff is amazing (I’d like to call out Adonis who is part of the dining/bar staff) and very helpful. The breakfast is also really nice. It is conveniently located a short walk from the town center. Overall, ticked all the boxes.”

“Fabulous hotel, albeit a little overpriced for the amenities. We wished we would have stayed longer. We preferred Monteverde to La Fortuna. Saw more wildlife on this property than our whole trip! Great, large breakfast with lots of options for vegans!”
