Aesthetically pleasing but lacked basic comforts
Travelled to Cartagena for my 40th birthday with 6 girlfriends. We stayed for 5 nights. The host accommodated an early check-in upon arrival. The house is aesthetically beautiful and as pictured. However, we can not rate this property highly due to some major comfort issues during our stay. All of the beds had hair and stains, which we pulled off and washed. The primary bedroom did not have sheets replaced timely. They were left outside and we had to dress that bed upon returning from a late night out. The replacement sheets were rough. Then there was the most inconvenient and uncomfortable issue of no hot water for most of our stay. We arrived Friday and did not receive hot water until Sunday evening. We did not utilize the pool mostly due to dreading the cold showers to wash our hair. 2 of the bathrooms did not have toilet seats and were never added. I don’t understand why this was not addressed along with the water situation prior to our arrival. But because we travelled far and I had arranged a whole itinerary complete with vendors such as a chef, I sucked these things up. As the stress of finding another last minute accommodation considering the reason for our travel was beyond time consuming and stressful. I must make it clear that had this just been a regular trip, I would have taken the time to vacate the property immediately after finding those 3 basic comforts were not provided (clean sheets, hot water and toilet seats). Other issues were things like door handles coming off, front door key getting stuck, house manager thinking our checkout date was a day earlier, the hot tub does not get hot and has a ring around it. Not enough towels for 6 women (we went through towels because we used them for a yacht day on day 3). We returned the towels for wash but they didn’t want to give them back….strange. We would’ve bought detergent and just washed them ourselves had we known they’d be stingy with the towels. There was a house keeper that came daily to tidy up, she was very nice. Even made us breakfast one day of our stay and coffee/tea. We felt secure with the gated entry to the community with posted security guard 24/7. Note to have your tour guides/cars dispatched as timely as possible as they don’t like them to wait in the property. For the price you pay to stay here, the comforts just don’t make the grade. Although, the property is as mentioned aesthetically beautiful.
