The intercontinental Cartagena De Indias will ALWAYS have a place in my heart! The hotel is nothing short of excellent. It was clean, its in the best location (inside of a mall, drugstores on every corner, walking distance to restaurants, cute local shops, the beach, taxi cab service at your fingertips at all times, English speakers, knowledgeable staff and most important to me -- my safety ALWAYS felt in good hands -- they cared about it as much as I did -- I went as a single mother with a daughter.)
I could not have made a better decision for me by choosing this location for lodging. My stay was for 6 nights, it was my birthday and my 15 year old daughters spring break and our bonding time. It was one of the best trips I have been on thus far. The breakfast was great every morning with a variety of choices. The pool bar is so awesome! I made some of my bestest friends in the bartenders, they were so amazing and caring! For my birthday they surprised me with a nice slice of birthday cake. The restaurant food is decent, but there are probably other local areas you can try, it would depend on your taste. I am not a huge meat eater, but of course the country alone is known for more meats than vegetable dishes. For the breakfast, I would have enjoyed other meat options other than pork. A nice corn beef hash or turkey bacon/sausage would have sealed the deal for me.
