Castelmola is a small town on a hilltop. It's within easy reach of Taormina but is less busy and touristy. I'd definitely recommend staying in Castelmola and taking the bus to Taormina for the day.

"We had a big family trip to Sicily (33 with 25 at The Lemon Tree). Plenty of room to accomodate us at The Lemon Tree. Castelmola was definitely a breathtaking venue . Spoiled for choice : Mt Etna & Taormina bay Also much quieter than Taormina which was crowded. Loved walking through the tiny narrow cobble streets .So many little eatery places and cafes.

Castelmola is a beautiful village with stunning views. It has a number of excellent restaurant options and also some great bars and shops. A wonderful place to unwind.
