"We LOVED our stay! We came for a staycation and were very impressed. I’d never heard of this hotel until searching for one for this weekend and noticed it had great reviews and was one of the cheapest options in the metro at almost half of what we were seeing elsewhere for rates. This hotel is in a growing area, near entertainment and several restaurants within a few blocks. Everyone was so incredibly friendly and helpful, any time we needed assistance it was a great interaction. We all agreed that the pool was phenomenal, we loved the softer floors and that the bottom of the pool was smooth. Usually I hate walking in pool areas but this didn’t hurt my bare feet! The pool temp was just a little cool but I thought it was ideal for me. The bed was great, my back didn’t agree with it, but I thought it was comfortable. My only critique was that the breakfast was fairly limited with just biscuits and gravy which was running low but was restocked while we were there, cereal and some breads. Overall I’ll be recommending this to all of our family members when they come visit! We had a great time!"
"We enjoyed our stay at Des Lux and will definitely be back next time we come through Des Moines. After completing RAGBRAI again we decided to treat ourselves and relax a bit before heading home. The whirlpool was amazing! Spacious and just the right temp. Lots of options for dining nearby. Be sure to stop by the bar and enjoy a cocktail with Sherry. "
