  • For couples or small families in search of a holiday that blends culture with countryside charm; this welcoming two-storey apartment just 500 metres from Cockermouth offers a fantastic base. The town itself is packed with character, boasting independent shops, artisan cafes, and restaurants where you can sample local flavours. Elsewhere in Cockermouth, step into literary history with a visit to Wordsworth House and Gardens, take a walk along the River Derwent, or pop into the local brewery for a behind-the-scenes tour and beer sample. Nearby Lorton Valley offers picturesque walking routes around Loweswater, Crummock Water and Buttermere, where serene lakes sit beneath dramatic fells. Don’t miss Brackenthwaite Hows (7.5 miles) – a stunning viewpoint immortalised by artist J.M.W. Turner. In the summer months, hop on the free shuttle bus to Buttermere (10 miles) for a scenic, car-free day out.

Upstairs awaits the social heart of the apartment – the open-plan lounge/diner where high ceilings and plenty of natural light combine to offer a bright and welcoming atmosphere. Unwind in the lounge space after days of adventure, sinking into the chic seating as the Smart TV streams your favourite shows. When stomachs rumble, find all you need in the sleek kitchen to cook up holiday feasts, which can be enjoyed at the window-side dining table.
