Great place to stay in Copan!

The hotel is beautiful! The outdoor gardens are lovely. The rooms are a little rudimentary, but comfortable no less.

Staff barely speaks English, which in my view is unacceptable in any hotel around the world. Room was ok for the price but very simple (not even a glass/cup in the room to drink from). They gave us takeaway breakfast as we had to leave early - that was a nice gesture. Great location within Copan.

My son and and I stayed at Plaza Magdalena during Spring Break 2024 and had a wonderful time. It's right in the heart of Copan Ruinas so it was a short walk or tuk tuk ride to the ruins of Copan, restaurants, Macaw Mountain bird sanctuary, coffee houses, city park or shopping. The staff was very helpful in spite of our limited Spanish. We would like to return to Copan Ruinas someday. It is a truly magical place.

After an initial room assignment, there were elements of the room that were not working properly… However, quickly, they reassigned me to another room and everything was working great! I had several requests, especially for Ice somewhat frequently and they accommodated all of it without haste.

Great Hotel in a Great Location

This hotel was by far one of the best hotels in Copan. The outdoor garden area was amazing, and the breakfast every morning included was fantastic. When we first got to our room, we noticed that there were several lightbulbs out, and that the cleanliness was OK but not exceptional. There were cobwebs on the ceiling around the fan, a smashed bag on the wall, and spots on the mirror in the bathroom. The pool area was exceptional, but their maintenance on the pool was lacking. The pool was cloudy and there was lots of leaves and debris at the bottom. I asked the front desk to resolve it, and although I saw them working on the pool several mornings scrubbing and putting in chemicals, it was still cloudy the day we left, seven days after check-in. Ultimately, this was still a fantastic location for us to stay. We got friendly with many of the staff members, and other visitors. I think the minor issues that they have can be fixed readily. We felt safe, and the AC in the bedroom was great. This was only one block off of the Central Park, and was an easy walking distance of many restaurants and shops. Getting a TukTuk was no problem as they were usually parked right outside. We really enjoyed our stay!!
