Fort Davis Davis Mountains State Park Hotels

"An absolute unique setting surrounded by the Fort Davis Mountains. It is directly across from the Chihuanhuan Desert Nature Center. We stayed in Bunkhouse 1 that worked well for 2 adults and our 11 year old grandson. The first night there we enjoyed sitting by the pool and the hot tub. We chose this location aa our home base to spend time both in the Fort Davis area and the Big Bend area. Bunkhouse accommodations are similar to a hotel setting. No kitchen but small frig, microwave, espresso machine. It also has a fireplace. It is a very peaceful setting that is still being developed. We enjoyed a short hike on the property but according to site info they plan to develop more trails. There are also trails at the Chihuanhuan Natural Center and at the Fort Davis State Park. The accommodations were very comfortable and provided everything we needed for our 5 nights. We bought snacks and lite breakfast food in town. The line of toiletries is top of the line. I wish I could have purchased it. "

"Artistic and fun property, with all the comforts of home! Great for couples, friends or families. (Maybe tough with a toddler who wants to touch everything, thinking back to those days, as they have so many cool decorations .... but depends on your kids!) We would stay again."

"Old - outdated - very overpriced Elevator has not worked in years - kitchen was shut down - bar shut down as well - had to get the room heater worked on since it would not heat - sad experience "

The mountain views are beautiful during the day, and the peaceful surroundings make it easy to unplug. The game room was a great bonus and gave us something fun to do in the evenings. When the temperature dropped at night, the fireplaces made the place feel especially cozy, which was perfect after being outside stargazing.Also worth mentioning—the Wi-Fi worked great, which was helpful when we needed it, but it was just as easy to disconnect and enjoy the quiet setting.If you’re looking for lodging near McDonald Observatory with amazing stargazing, comfortable amenities, and easy access to Davis Mountains State Park, this property is an excellent choice. 100% stay again!"

"We enjoyed our stay here greatly. The cabin is a perfect size, and it seemed to have everything we needed. At one point, my wife realized she needed to use scissors, and viola, there was a pair in a drawer. Being able to make our own coffee each morning was fantastic. We needed both the AC and some heat during our stay and that worked flawlessly. I guess because it was spring break it was quiet all around us. We loved the retro-style refrigerator. We didn't really use the little backyard and observation deck, except to take a sunrise photo on our last day. It was a wonderful place to stay in a gorgeous part of Texas."
