The room we were placed in was clean but very cold heard traffic at night time evening meal was really good had to leave early next morning so we did not experience the breakfast overall not bad but would not stay again sorry

I am however sorry to read that you felt the room was cold. Our heating is on 24/7 so sorry if your room was cold.I do wish you had called down to reception as we stock extra portable heaters rather than suffer the cold. I cannot check the room you stayed to ensure that the everything is working as it should as you have used a different name on your review to your reservation. Again sincere apologies Kind regards

The breakfast was delicious, our compliments to the chef and our waitress was friendly & pleasant. Unfortunately the breakfast was the only enjoyable part of our stay. We were in Room 14 in the basement, it had a powerful odour of damp mixed with air freshener. The room was cramped , it had one window which didn't provide enough natural light, that in combination with every wall being painted a dark purple colour made the room feel very claustrophobic. The artificial lighting was also poor & the two mirrors provided were inappropriately positioned, that in combination with poor lighting made it almost impossible to apply makeup accurately, we had to purchase a torch! The pillows provided were too soft & when we requested harder ones we were informed that all the pillows were the same, surely not all guests & their requirements are the same?

Dear Guest, I am very sorry to read that your felt the hotel was poor. In regard to the smell of damp I can only apologise and would confirm that we have now located the problem. I am sure you will have noticed the new bathroom - unbeknown to us we had a smell that came and went. I can assure you we would not have let the room had we known the extent of the issue. I have checked the housekeeping log for the room. It was checked prior to your arrival and was perfect so I am sorry that the damp smell returned. We have brought the builders back for the 3rd time to locate this and I am delighted to advise that we have - the shower had been seeping behind the wall and therefore total unseen until this was exposed. We have now ripped out the bathroom and it will be full repaired in the next few days - I can only apologise for this and it is certainly not indicative. I was very concerned about your comment in relation to the colour and darkness of the room - to say that you purchased a touch is I am sorry to say is a total exaggeration. The light levels are very strong in the rooms and we have never such feedback. When you booked on line the photograph of the room depicts the colours and it really should not have been a shock. I am sorry you did not like the pillows, as you mention this is a personal preference and they are all new and I would just advise we get amazing feedback about our bedding - if you had preferred a hard pillow I do wish you had contacted us prior to your arrival - we are not chain hotel that holds or offers a pillow menu but do, do all we can to ensure our guests have a great stay. Thank you for your great feedback about breakfast and again I can only apologise that you did not have a enjoyable stay. Kind regards

All as it should be.
Lovely rooms and breakfast was made to order. Can’t comment on dinner as didn’t eat there but menu looked good. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Made to feel welcome,the room was very clean.But we were placed,back end of the Hotel,with no view,just fence to look at,bathrooms had just been decorated,really nice.But the bedroom area,really needs a make-over,purple is such a dull colour.........Sorry. I also found the room cold,as no heating on,just a warm towel rail,in bathroom.

In regard to your room we were delighted to read that you approved of the new bathrooms, I was however sorry to read you were not as impressed with the room. Colour - this is very much a personal preference and we receive so much positive feedback with regard to the décor in this rooms. I would also just advise that the colour and room location is very clear on the Website so you are not disappointed when you arrive at the hotel. In regard to the heating it is August and the heating is only on for limited periods. I do wish you had contacted reception who could have organised a portable heater for you or even boosted the heating for you rather suffer the cold. I do hope we can welcome you back soon. Pleasant.
This is a nice hotel for a few nights. My room was very comfortable apart from the shower wasn’t very good, and the lower ground floor rooms smell a bit damp. Good breakfast included.

I was sorry to read that you felt the shower wasn;'t very good - I am not aware of any issues with our showers and the Standard Room are all new, With Rain showers and wands - however they are not power showers so maybe that is what you were looking for. Nice hotel, comfortable bed, clean with good dining room downstairs. No lift. Easy walking distance to town. Would stay here again.

We do clearly state on all booking sits that the hotel does not have a lift but are delighted to help with luggage. For you information we do have 1 room on the ground floor but it needs to be booked directly. I am afraid when the hotel was built in 1902 the Temperance Movement did not see the need for a lift! The food was amazing - truly the best selection for breakfast I've ever experienced. The staff were attentive and prompt, polite and friendly - and had a great sense of humour. The room, albeit small, was immaculate.

The Dunmuir Hotel and staff was a great experience after a long day of golf and travel. The staff was accommodating when I arrived fifteen minutes before the last call for the kitchen and I was able to order from the check-in counter. I would suggest staying here if you are traveling through Dunbar.

Well located in Dunbar and handy for the wider area. All staff welcoming and most helpful throughout my brief stay. Breakfast was very good. Some minor upgrading of the lower corridor is ongoing but not a problem in any way. Bedroom warm and well appointed.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was very good and there was a good choice available. The only downside was the shower in the room - it had no pressure and as I have really thick hair, I ended up having to fully turn on the bath tap and kneel in the bath to rinse my hair.

Very friendly team
The hotel team were amazingly friendly, it was a late check in but we were still able to get dinner. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet, the only minor disappointment was it had an electric shower that wasn’t the most powerful - so a full shower down took time. Breakfast was friendly and comprehensive - personally for this trip, it was the best we could have hoped for -
