So, it was not announced in the booking but check-in was delayed until 1800, not 1500. Having driven into the car park I was confronted by a roadworker who squared up to me and threatened me with assault saying the car park was closed and then stormed into the hotel once I said I was not leaving. There were no signs to state the car park was closed nor was there any notification here. Then at 1am the air conditioning started pouring out water. Not wanting to have to change room at 1am it was just switched off. Defo not four star.

Overall a great hotel but didn’t appreciate the hidden cost of parking at check-out. I was not informed of this extra charge at check-in!

The hotel feels dated, the décor reminded me of a Wetherspoons from the mid-2000s and really hasn't aged well; and even in a Club room there were chunks missing from the bathroom panels, which wasn’t great. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable. The restaurant, however, was a real let-down. It’s incredibly expensive for what it is, and the quality doesn’t match the price. On my first visit, I had a rubbery, bland burger. On the second, I thought I’d play it safe with six chicken tenders and some onion rings, plus a pint of Coke – it came to £25, and the food tasted like it had come straight from the freezer. Breakfast was similarly disappointing at £12.50 a day: sweaty, fatty bacon, soggy hash browns, and very limited cold drink options. To top it off, the steam room wasn’t working during my stay. Overall, the bed was comfortable, but it’s hard to justify the prices given the dated feel and poor food quality.

I’ve stayed at The Village Watford many time previously, but unfortunately this was very disappointing stay. After a late 11.30pm check in I discovered that the water in the room was stone cold after a very unpleasant shower! I got dressed and went to reception. No staff around so I waited until someone turned up around 10 minutes later. I explained the problem and was told to pack my stuff and he would come to move us to another room in 5 minutes. 20 minutes later we were offered the room next door. We checked the water to find it was also cold. “No problem, I’ll be back in 5 minutes to move you to another room”. 30 minutes later we were moved again and guess what, no hot water! By 12.45 I didn’t want to move again so just took the room. Next morning I was told there was a problem with the boiler. If I’d have been told the truth a the beginning I would have had an extra hours sleep! Very annoying and will make me think twice before booking again.

We were told excitedly we were in one of the new rooms which smelled strongly of paint giving me a headache by the morning. Frosted window providing minimal privacy in the bathroom. We were 2 single ladies in twin room so would have thought there would be better privacy into bathroom rather than a viewing window for the other person!

Overpriced but good hotel option

Trendy hotel chain, modern entrance area, rooms and decor. Check in is a joke, supposed to be self check in but needs assistance like all other hotels to get your room plus that’s what you are paying for, customer service. In my opinion overpriced for what they are, as now competing with a higher class hotel down the road but no complaints on my stay.

Our vist visit

It was our 1st time staying in the village hotal have to say it was lovely room staff friendly heloful too. We had level 1 in room 102 only meh to it is your looking a wall thats the only downside but other then that everything was clean tidy .There's a kettle and few option to have a freshing drink. We didnt use anything apart from the rom so i cannot comment on rest of the hotel We didn't eat or drink or use the gym or pool thats an extra charge Bathroom spacious we had with rain shower wow i definitely recommend theres a black out blind nice and we would had a veiw of runway i guess but u hear it a little but didnt bother us ty
