Fenelon Falls

These are very basic, weathered rooms in serious need of some repair and paint jobs. When I first arrived, I was assigned a room that smelled terribly, had a thick layer of dust on the window sill, had a seriously pilling and grotty bedspread, and had two greasy hand prints on the bed's headboard. Of course people have sex in the rooms, but as a new guest, you don't want to see evidence of previous guests. I thought the woman who checked me in wasn't very friendly or hospitable. There was no discretion when loudly telling me, a woman traveling alone, my room number in a lobby full of people, and she didn't seem to care about the hand prints, saying they were probably just a stain and nothing could be done. I asked for another room, and thankfully was assigned one. This new room seemed cleaner, but the bathtub plug didn't work and the repairman spent almost an hour on my first night fixing it. The hairdryer was also broken. With taxes and fees, I paid almost $500/night. I considered extending my stay in Toronto for work, but at that point, during TIFF and the investment summit, my room was almost $1000/night. At that rate, even at my original rate, the service and experience should match the price. I get that price gouging is common practice, but it feels pretty icky and opportunistic, especially in a place like this. I'm not one for writing bad reviews, but I was disappointed with several elements of my stay, and wanted to voice this.

Been traveling around the world for the last 30 years and have to say that this one one of the best Hotels, Staff and location I have stayed at Great job

The location was ideal. We parked the car and walked everywhere.
