Rain, (not sure of the spelling) was a fantastic hostess. She works the front desk. She was very helpful and a great hostess. She works very hard taking care of her guests and the lobby. She is a valuable asset to the hotel.

Arrived late and did not have the opportunity to explore much, but really enjoyed the ambience of this clean historic hotel. Desk attendent, Reign, was a sweetheart and took very good care of a couple of weary travelers, with recommendations and a room switch due to faulty heater in room #1. Will be back when bar/restaurant are open after remodel.

Air/Heat did not work. We were given a space heater. Bathtub procelain was chipped all over and had been painted white. Hard water crust on faucets should have been cleaned. Bath doors had paint chips all over. I stayed here 8 yrs ago and loved it. Lobby is not nice like it used to be. Really disappointed.

The room was great. the character and history of the hotel is great. staff were friendly and helpful. The outdoor courtyard needs some decluttering. It seemed a little too shabby. We wish the restaurant had been open. We hope next time these two areas are improved.

It is a beautiful HISTORIC property so don't expect all the conveniences of modern buildings. It is well worth the sacrifice of some of those conveniences to enjoy the peace and beauty of the building. The train does come through multiple times day or night, but we found it interesting to watch. We enjoyed relaxing in the courtyard and walking around the area. Such COOL murals all over town! Staff was very friendly and everywhere we walked people seemed friendly as well!

The entire experience was delightful! The checkin staff was super friendly and helpful, parking was awesome, the room was extremely quaint and comfortable, and the location was perfect for walking about. I’d give it more than five stars if I could, kudos!

I’ve always wanted to stay at the historic Holland hotel in Alpine. And so I did just recently. When we arrived at the Holland, the attendant, I think her name was B, was incredibly kind, informative about the area, as sweet as could be, and helped us get checked in. We used the trolley conveniently located by the front door of the hotel to take our luggage upstairs to our room number 312. Upon walking into the room, we noticed an unusual odor. While the two queen beds were meticulously made with crisp, clean, white sheets, the smell overwhelmed us. We went into the bathroom, and the stench was overpowering. We turned on the fan and left the hotel room for about four hours in hopes that it would somewhat clear out. When we returned the smell had not changed. Having earlier been told that there would be no one at the front desk after 7 o’clock we were basically left to deal with the smell. It took at least three hours for me to finally fall asleep because of the smell. I reached for one of the pillows on my bed, only to find that it was flat as a pancake and had no pillowcase on it. Assuming it was something a previous guest had left behind, I instantly threw it on the floor disgusted. Being an old hotel does not mean it needs to be an unkept and dirty hotel. This room desperately needed to be repainted, it needed the carpets cleaned, and the bath had not been properly cleaned. There was crud and hair on the shower wall and toilet seat. I wish I’d stayed at the Holiday Inn.

The description and pictures of the hotel amenities were false/misleading. There wasn't a gameoom/arcade, no spa or salon, no onsite pool. It did say that the pool was a "brisk walk" at the other hotel and that was false. It was 15 blocks away on the other side of the city at a run down motel.
