"Was a good stay and the in room onsen was a bonus. Breakfast and dinner were great though the dinner menu was very similar over the two nights we dined there. Service levels were consistently good though it's odd that they didn't clean our room on the second day. Overall it was a good enjoyable stay. P.S. while the hotel is near Gora station on paper, the walk there is incredibly exhausting with steep stairs and an endless incline. So if you're bringing young ones along, do take note."

The atmosphere perfectly captured the charm of a traditional Japanese inn — peaceful, elegant, and deeply relaxing. The kaiseki dinner and Japanese breakfast were both incredible — beautifully presented, full of flavor, and a true highlight of our trip. Each dish felt thoughtfully prepared with seasonal ingredients and artistic presentation. We enjoyed both the private onsen and the public baths, which were immaculate and soothing with the surrounding nature views. The private bath experience was especially special — serene, quiet, and rejuvenating after a long day of exploring Hakone. The staff were kind, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. Every detail, from the check-in to the evening yukata service, reflected genuine hospitality and care. If you’re looking for an authentic ryokan stay that combines comfort, tradition, and incredible cuisine, Hakone Kowakien Mikawaya Ryokan is perfect. "The shuttle bus service from the station was fantastic. All their people were very friendly and helpful. We had the best view of Mt. Fuji. The hotel surrounds were beautiful gardens kept immaculately. We would highly recommend this hotel. Lovely spacious rooms too. Shower over bath thouh. Also lake not far to walk. and tourist bus service to the lake areas, etc. And to the kimono museum; must see. The Kawaguchiko station is very crowded with hundreds of tourists but efficient service to get through. Make sure you book your train ticket seat. Train very crowded. "

"The room with the mountain view is amazing! Even the lovely public bath has a mountain view. So close to FujiQ Highland. Convenient bus stop that connects to other areas around Kawaguchiko! Room is quite spacious for 2, with a table & 2 chairs to chill by the large windows. Will definitely stay here again!"

"My room was absolutely stunning. Cleanliness 10/10. Check in was a breeze. The room was so spacious the outdoor patio had a footbath, grass area, bbq and outside table. The room was equipped with absolutely every single thing you needed, it even had a telescope! The best thing was the fully equipped kitchen and the beautiful private onsen with a big window that opens up to the backyard. Privacy is 10/10. It’s also 10 minutes car ride to the Hakone Open Air Museum and a 7/11. 100/10 experience at this place! "
