Aussicht auf Dächer, habe keine Seesicht gewünscht, Zimmer war sauber effizient, Bett/Matratze sollte ausgewechselt werden. Personal ist auf Wünsche eingegangen, es war immer eine Ansprechperson da, freundlich, hilfsbereit. Frühstück : für mich persönlich alles da: Kaffee, Eier warm egal wie, Haferflocken, Joghurt, Frucht.

This hotel is an historical building with quite beautiful architecture. However it lacks many amenities of newer hotels such as AC, hair dryers and a fridge. The rooms and furnishings are very dated but fit into the character of the building. The area is quiet and not touristy which is nice for those who prefer this. We only ate in the restaurant for breakfast and it was pretty good. We did find ants in our room but the employees were very accommodating and made sure we were comfortable in another room.

Charming hotel, quite central and wibes of the 60-ts jetset so a bit dated, but clean an familiar. The wievs are the best, the negatives are the hard beds and no ac. Lovely little rooftop pool. Walk down to center or old town and take a taxi home, easy and cheep if you dont want to climb the hill up...

The bathroom was so outdated and water leaked onto the floor tiles from somewhere, not badly, but enough to make your feet wet. The view from the window was the roof swimming pool wall with a bit of a view above. Only stayed 2 nights otherwise would have moved. The overal building is old and decor shabby but interesting and the staff very polite and on hand. The terrace was lovely.

Das Hotel Monte Carlo hat eine tolle Lage in unmittelbarer Nähe zu Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Es geht zwar zu Fuß steil hinauf, ist aber gut machbar. Die Einrichtung ist in die Jahre gekommen und etwas "abgeranzt". Aus der Dusche kam nur wenig Wasser, Fliesen und Fugen sind marode - trotzdem würden wir es wieder buchen. Das Frühstück (in Buffet-Form) hatten wir je nach Bedarf morgens spontan eingenommen, ohne es vorab gebucht zu haben. Der Bereich um den Pool könnte mal wieder saniert werden, doch der Blick über die Stadt hat alles andere vergessen lassen. Alles in allem ein sympathisches Hotel in traumhafter Lage - und allen, die nicht penibel auf alles achten, sehr zu empfehlen.

Primeira noite casa de banho com cheiro a fossa. Depois de ter reclamado, mudaram-me de quarto. Qualidade do bar muito fraco com preços exagerados para a categoria de hotel. Parque só para 4 viaturas, havendo muita dificuldade nas redondezas em arranjar lugar, pois estão destinados a moradores.Mobiliário do restaurante muitissimo velho. We only stayed here because our flight was canceled last minute and it was the only thing decent that was available. It was nothing special. The rooms were very old but clean enough. The breakfast was very average. The location was pretty good about 15 min walk to old town Funchal. The people working there were super nice and friendly. The view of the city when sitting on the terrace or breakfast room was the best part! Our room unfortunately had a view of another part of the building so we had no view at all. The wifi didn’t work in the rooms which I thought was very weird, they definitely need to fix that.

The property is like going into a novel set in the late 1800- early 1900s. The original workmanship was beautiful and the updates have changed it a little but it still has the essence of the time. The key and mail cubbies are there and the library doesn't have many books but has some interesting old items. The pool, terrace, and balcony off my 3rd floor room gave guests several places to be outside to enjoy the wonderful view. The bathroom taps were tricky to turn on and then continued to drip when turned off, so that wasn't so good and they were a bit stingy on towels. The wifi is only in public areas of the hotel, not in the rooms. The rooms could use better lighting, lamps etc. so one could read at night. It's quite a hike up to the top of the hill, but it made up for missing my exercise classes. The staff were polite and very helpful, for example the taxi driver was waiting for me upon arrival at the airport and was there early when I left. The toast cheese and ham was just right for an evening snack. It was fun to picture ladies from long ago in their long dresses and hats going up and down the stairs. It's nice they are preserving such a wonderful building! Dr. S

Complete disappointment. Website is not repsentative of reality. No air conditioning, no fans, no fridge, no ice machine, no hair dryer, no safe. You need to ask to borrow a dryer. You need to leave your room and car keys with the front desk when you leave. We had to pay 2 euros for a few pieces of ice. They also added a charge of 2 euros for used mismatched plastic cups. Everything was outdated and in weathered condition. The ceiling in our room was patched with paper and masking tape. There is NO swim up bar as per website. The pool had green algae all around. TV was outdated. Wifi was only available in front lobby. Red carpet in main stairs was used and faded. There was supposed to be music from 4pm until midnight. We barely heard anything and the sound system was also outdated. We were supposed to stay for 4 nights but left the next day.

I have stayed at the Monte Carlo for over 20 years and they have always looked after my needs with great care and compassion. The hotel is set in a wonderful position in the town ( not the soulless hotel zone) overlooking the sea and mountains. It’s a period hotel, with tremendous charm with a pool on the roof at a certain price point. We visited in April 2024 and the staff were fabulous and the stay in Madeira a joy. The Monte Carlo is a period gem, but not a modern chain hotel. If you want a slice of Madeira stay.. close if steep walk to the whole town, museums and restaurants. 24 hour desk, limited parking ( but parking in the area) simple bu cheep breakfast, comfortable and large period rooms. Like Madeira itself charming, quirky and old school.

Disappointing.. not what it seems

The hotel room was a disappointment, breakfast buffet was very lacking and the buffet space was very small. The parking lot only has space for 3 cars and it is mostly occupied by the workers. The workers had no uniform or anything that showed they worked there, no nametag, nothing, so when we gave our key away we were wondering if we were actually giving it to a random stranger. In the buffet tiny room you have a window to the kitchen and from there I could see the worker coughing on the food and with her earphones the whole time. The fruit wasn't fresh, it was canned fruit. Breakfast had very few options. Regarding the cleaning, the lady was very nice and the rooms were properly cleaned. The only good thing is the view.

Monte Carlo er et fantastisk sted at holde ferie, hvis man som jeg elsker ro og harmoni. Stilen er gammel, hvilket jeg også godt kan lide. Meget højt til loftet og flotte gamle døre og vinduer. Elevatoren fører dig til de forskelle afdelinger, og jeg boede på 2 etage, hvor der også var en dejlig lille swimmingpool, Herfra er der udsigt over Funchal og ned til havnen, hvor de store cruiseskibe også ligger. Underholdninger for mig var Hollywood Chanel på værelset og i Hotellets bar. Det var faktisk gode film der var på kanalen. Det var dejlig afslapning, når jeg kom tilbage til hotellet efter lange traveture rundt omkring på øen. Sengen og badeværelset var også helt fint. En dygtig tjener, som har en god fornemmelse for kundepleje, sørger for at du kan få en lækker gin og tonic. Der var mange at vælge imellem og det var vidunderligt at sidde på deres terrasse foran indgangen og nyde en dejlig aftensmad bestående af deres lokale fiskeret Espada med de lækreste grøntsager til og dejligt ristet brød. Herfra har du også den skønneste udsigt ud over byen og ned til vandet. Jeg syntes det er skønt at der stadigvæk findes sådanne gamle og nostalgiske, autentiske hoteller og jeg håber Monte Carlo vil fortsætte stilen, for det er bare så hyggeligt. Tusind tak for en dejlig ferie hos jer. Kan på det varmeste anbefale stedet, men det er vigtigt at kunne gå opad, for selvom der var trappen fra gaden, var det lidt anstrengende. Ellers er det bedst at tage en taxa derop.

Fiquei hospedada com o meu namorado durante 3 noites. Quando chegámos ao hotel deparamo-nos com instalações muito velhas, nomeadamente, no hall de entrada e no quarto (rachas nas paredes, chão a ranger, decoração antiquada e envelhecida). É de salientar, também, que para quem tem dificuldades em adormecer, há um problema na porta que deixa passar a luz do corredor e pode causar um desconforto. Para além disto, o hotel dispõe de um parque de estacionamento gratuito, no entanto, não está explícito que este é minúsculo e, caso não haja espaço, o carro tem que ser estacionado noutro local. Acerca do pequeno almoço, apenas tenho a fazer uma observação acerca dos ovos mexidos que estavam péssimos, tinham um sabor e cor estranhos. Assim sendo, o hotel apenas compensa pela centralidade e vista da ilha do Funchal.

Fim de semana na Madeira

O pessoal foi muito simpático. O quarto estava limpo, contudo está um pouco velho, para 3 estrelas acho que começa a precisar de obras. Mas como estava limpo e foi apenas para dormir serviu para o que precisava. O quarto tinha um pátio pequeno mas sem qualquer vista. A piscina tem umas visitas muito bonitas sobre o Funchal.

Historic 1905 Hotel with cozy rooms , captivating

I really enjoyed the 1905 beautiful MONTE CARLO HOTEL building, it has breathtaking, captivating view of the city. Pool on the roof. One could sit on the roof all day & enjoy captivating 180° view of the city, the bay, ocean, mountains. Pedro & Albino were very well mannered, cordial, helpful, kind people. My room was nice size, with spacious bathroom, it had a shower & a bath. It's 5 minutes walk to city center, the beach, old town, airport bus stop. Architecture around, walking towards hotel, or from, was also captivating, many beautiful, historical buildings. It also has a big space at the front entrance to the hotel, were one could sit, relax & enjoy the captivating view. There is a library, a lounge are on the 1st floor, it's really wonderful, relaxing, cozy. Am so glad & grateful to the owner for having me there, I enjoyed the breakfast/ lunch serv d by Albino, he was kind & caring person, cappuccino was delicious, can't wait to return & recommend it to fellow travelers.
