Honeysuckle Cottage, 2 bed, sleeps 3, family-friendly and pet-friendly

This end terrace cottage sits in a quiet street in the center of the town, just yards from the picturesque canal basin with its colorful boats. The canal towpath runs by, offering miles of easy walking surrounded by the Peak District countryside. Set over three floors, the front entry to the property is on the middle floor where there is a modern lounge with a cosy wood burning stove. Downstairs the dining kitchen including dishwasher, fridge freezer and washer dryer with access via a barn door to the paved rear patio with garden furniture, whilst upstairs are the two comfy bedrooms and toilet. Close to the beautiful Goyt Valley, one of the Peak District's undiscovered gems, this is an area of spectacular high moorland and interesting market towns. The choice of walks is endless and quiet lanes and moorland tracks offer a good choice for cyclists too. It's a short drive to the historic market towns of Chapel-en-le-Frith and the spa town of Buxton with its splendid Opera House and Crescent. Nearby Castleton offers a choice of underground caves to visit, and the National Trust's impressive estate at Lyme Park shouldn't be missed. In the other direction Manchester is easy to reach from Whaley Bridge station (5 minutes walk from the cottage), making this an ideal location to combine exploring the Peak District with some city shopping. Car parking for 1 car at front of Cottage in allocated space and free public car park 10 meters away. Second entrance at kitchen/patio level and bicycle storage available DOGS and CATS WELCOME ( We kindly ask that pets are up to date with flea treatments)

This was our 2nd stay at Honeysuckle Cottage and we had a lovely time again.The cottage is warm and cosy in winter and the location is great for hiking. The Goyt Inn was as welcoming as always. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A lovely house in a good location (close proximity to a large Tesco and the high street with shops, pubs and restaurants). The house is split over three floors, is well presented and well stocked. The garden area is an open plan courtyard - which meant I couldn’t let the dog out as easily.As per other reviews, I agree that the house needs a deep clean. The rope seal around the fire is also a little loose (probably needs fixing / replacing) so you burn through wood quite quickly. No personal communication from the host, which isn’t essential but as a host myself, I find tenants (including myself) feel more welcome, considered and cared for with a little communication.

We stayed 5 nights in October half term and had a lovely stay.The cottage is very cosy and ideally located to spend time in the Peak district. Recommend the local Indian takeaway just around the corner and also the Goyt in which is only a couple of minutes walk away.Kitchen could do with a few more items, such as a baking and roasting tray but this didn't affect our stay.All in all a really lovely cottage in a lovely location. We're already considering coming back for a couple of nights in November.

Het huis is compleet ingericht. Er ontbreekt eigenlijk niets.We hadden wel problemen met de Wifi, maar via telefonisch contact met de eigenaar werd dit opgelost.Het dorp heeft 5 pubs, maar slechts bij 1 daarvan werd ook eten geserveerd.

The kitchen and bedroom floors were dirty (there was even rubbish left from previous occupant - we left it behind - it wasn't ours! The head board on the bed was VERY dusty (months if not years of dust). Some of the surfaces were dirty. There was only one (large) kitchen knife which wasn't very sharp. There were no serving spoons

Week long holiday in the Peaks

Lovely apartment. The stairs provide useful training for any walks you might be planning (lol). The kitchen was well equipped and a generally sure location. Anyone over 6 foot tall may have to duck to get under the shower properly but that wasn't a problem for us.

Good Jump-Off Point for the Peak District.

Central location behind a chip shop and beside the canals.A unique layout due to the numerous levels.Basement floor is the full bathroom and kitchen, with access to the patio directly behind the fish and chip shop vent. Ground floor, a spacious living area and the front door. The upper floor is the 2 bedrooms and a toilet. Very comfy beds but since it's summer time, and a heatwave, it needed a fan. The outside was a bit noisy with the road with the windows open at night. Needed a little bit more TLC with the cleaning.

Great stay

the Cottage is well equipped. Everything is there to make a stay enjoyable. Nice bathroom, nice shower and enough towelswhaley Bridge is a great base to explore the Peak District. There are a few nice pubs and a few good restaurants and lots of good takeaway. Also a very good sandwich shop and a wine shop. There is a large Tesco nearby for groceries.We will definitely be back.

Nice house, good location. Lots of stairs. We ended up parking mainly in the big free car park just down from the property, it does fill up during the day though. Not the world’s fastest WiFi but okay. Living area was comfy, kitchen was well equipped. The shower is over the bath, the bath isn’t particularly wide, it’s a little hard to stand in. Biggest issue was the open hatch above the upstairs bathroom door - it was very draughty, even in May. Good location for exploring the Peak District, nice canal walks, close to Manchester and National Trust properties.

good location, excellent easy parking in the free car park literally 50 yards away. close to town and nearby coffee shop and fish n chip shop. - all in all a good location for exploring the Peak District - everything is kind of 10 miles or 20 minutes way in nice country roads. Very handy Tesco superstor 5 mins walk or 2 mins drive

Fantastic stay

Whaley Bridge is interesting and active little town. Plenty of options for food and at least three good pubs. The cottage had everything we wanted and we did a couple of great walks from the door.

Another great stay in Whaley Bridge everything you need central location quiet area, neighbours friendly. Cottage very cosy lounge spacious kitchen bathroom good shower. Would definitely stay at Honeysuckle again, train 2 minute walk to station buses to Buxton convenient too.

Easter Break

Lovely property, too many stairs. Very comfy bed. Couldn't get the heating to actually warm the property up, no matter how high we set it. Need a bread knife and a new frying pan. Great location. Enjoyed our stay.

Recommend, value for money, Honey Suckle Cottage, always our go to when visiting UK to see family close by. Great setting, near shops, cafes, canal and public transport. Not suitable for young children due to stairs.

great quirky cottage

Stayed for 3 nights , the cottage was lovely and warm,comfy bed and in a great location for walking the canal path . It is also a good base for visiting the area .The cafe close by does excellent sandwiches and cakes.
