We stayed at Maunaloa Shores 109 for 10 nights right before Christmas. The apartment is in a great location and just a minute walk to my favorite place to swim in Hilo.
The bed was fantastic for me, just soft enough but not squishy. I fell asleep each night with the sounds of the waves crashing.
The kitchen was well stocked with what was needed to prepare meals. They even provided dish soap, trash bags, laundry pods, and other amenities so that we didn't have to buy them at the grocery store.
There were beach towels, sunblock and bug repellent left by others, though we didn't have any mosquito issues. They also provided lots of fans both ceiling and on stands, which were helpful.
There isn't a dining table in the apartment, but there is a table with chairs on the balcony, which was great to have. The screen on the patio door doesn't stay in the groove, so if you are concerned about biting bugs, you'll want to keep readjusting the screen door. It's easy enough to do.
The Wi-Fi was decent, but not fantastic. Video calls were okay and I was able to do the work that I needed while on vacation.
Lastly, the management was super responsive and helpful. Everyone we met in the building was kind and welcoming. The only thing that I would recommend to the management is that they repaint the parking area so that the numbers on the spaces are clearer. The parking space number for this apartment was barely visible. The paint has almost entirely worn off. Otherwise, we had a lovely stay.
