"We have really enjoyed our stay in this ryokan. Staff were super helpful and considerate. We arrived late at night. There was someone waiting there to greet us, then showed us their onsen which was a heavenly experience after a long day. The bedroom is spacious and sealed with separate air conditioning, perfect for the hot July weather. There are extra bedding and pillows in the closet. There were balcony furnitures for relaxation. The whole place is calm and gracious… The next morning we were offered simple breakfast and coffee. Upon checking out, we asked about the snow monkey park. To our surprise, they actually offer free shuttle service to the park entrance. We then met at the agreed time after a couple of hours and returned to the hotel where we stored our luggage. Even though that they offer free shuttle service, we insisted on paying for their time and gas etc, then they kindly offered to drive us to the train station! The kindness and typical subtle Japanese style services left us nothing but warm memories. We love the little town and the people living there. So far we’ve visited more than a dozen hotels in Japan, this one is very unique and gave us a profound Japan experiences. My teenage boy has given it the highest rating in our own record 👍! We still have a week long to explore Japan, so we really look forward to more of this kind of adventure."

"This place was the most amazing, warm, friendly, and loving hotel I’ve ever had the privilege of staying. The entire hotel is run by a phenomenal family—so incredibly kind, loving, and welcoming. We were greeted warmly upon our arrival and they showed us a map of the town, asked how they could help, and made great suggestions for dinner. The gentleman drove my family and I to the Snow Monkey Park and drove us to the train station the next morning. We had the most delicious cheeseburgers that we have ever had in our whole lives at the restaurant downstairs and enjoyed time in the recreation room playing pool, chess, and other fun games. The onsens on the property were very clean, hot, and relaxing. I got to experience the open air and enclosed onsen during my stay and both were so peaceful. When we left, the whole family came outside to wave goodbye to us and bow. It was truly the most amazing and authentic Japanese hotel throughout our 1-month of travel across this amazing country! I would recommend this place to every soul on planet earth :)"

"While this is an older hotel, it is clean, things are in working order, and rather charming and unique. For example, I had a large room with a small patio that offered a beautiful view of the city. It’s in a quaint quiet town with gorgeous views of the mountains surrounding the town. I appreciated the thoughtful touch of hot green tea. The thermos amazingly kept the water hot even till the next morning. Because I went during « low » season in May, I was able to enjoy the onsen to myself ! The host/owner is a sweet man. It is rather expensive for one night but I did not regret my stay. I did get plenty of exercise being on the fourth floor with no elevator."
