a beautiful house with negligent management offering no help

Upon arrival we reported: a tv in the living room did not work.We were told this was due to the hurricane (it wasn’t).The pool was cold (we paid to have it heated).We were told maintenance would be advised.We reported that the hot tub was only 80 degrees and we were told that maintenance would be advised. We called multiple times each day for our entire stay.Someone came the 5th day of our stay to fix the tv.He told us he was not really a tv repairman.My son, an engineer, turned the tv around and fixed it.The pool was cold our entire visit (we paid for pool heat).It was fixed the morning we left.The hot tub was fixed the night before we left.It was never used.The bbq was covered with rust, mold and grease and was unusable.It was replaced 4 days into our stay and left on the shuffleboard court.I went to the office and talked to two managers who told me the outer banks were very unique:parts were not readily available and always had to be 'shipped in,' and that they had no control over vendors.This was reiterated by Clam I Am's manager “Jennifer” who wouldn't give me her last name, saying it would be on a letter she was sending to me.For northerners going south for a family vacation, it's all about getting away from cold weather:a heated pool, hot tub, movies together, bbq’s every day.We were denied all this.And to top it off, everyone was rude.How many renters of this property suffered the same treatment?These owners should pay close attention.We await their response.

Just Me....Just MEH

This spot was adequate and that's about it. The driveway was so overgrown with bushes that it was difficult to try to back out. The fact that the driveway opens up to VERY busy road made it daunting to get out of the driveway at all hours. The air filter on the 3rd floor was so clogged up that it was whistling when the AC came on. VERY VERY important note is that ALL mattresses, except one, were utilitarian, and VERY FIRM/HARD. The living room furniture on the 3rd floor was very dirty, to the point that the patterns were obscured by dirt. Swimming pool entry rail was very loose. The management company was quite responsive to texts and replaced air filters almost immediately. They did send a team out to trim back the bushes and trees that had overtaken the driveway, albeit they blocked the driveway completely and one of the team members was having a nap in the front seat when we pulled up, looked at us, and laid back down. One of the other guys in the yard had to come wake him up to move the truck. Cabinet space for your own groceries is non-existent. Suffice it to say that we would not book this property again. The management company was mostly responsive to texts however I feel that a walk through from time to time would have identified the need to fix the pool rail, trim the bushes, change air filters, and that dirty, dirty, furniture in the family room.

Outer Banks for Spring Break

Overall our stay was great. Clam I Am is very nice and spacious. Getting to the beach, shops and restaurants was convenient. Our son loved the game room and spent a lot of time playing pool and ping pong. The only room for improvement that we noted would be clean up of the back lawn including fixing the broken volleyball net, replacing the very worn mattresses, making sure the entrance light bulbs are working and wiping down the kitchen counters. All things that are easily fixed in order to make the property an even greater delight. And nothing that kept us from having a great time and enjoying ourselves. One note we did have for the rental company would be to make renters aware that a house is being built right next door, just a few feet from Clam I Am. The early morning drilling and hammering was not a welcome surprise. We realize that progress and building will happen, especially on such a busy street, however we would have liked to have been made aware as it may have changed our decision on where to stay based on our desire for peace and relaxation on our vacation. Still overall we had a great time and the house is lovely.

Great time with overall!

Overall, we had a great time and loved the house! The only issue we ran into was with the grill; the grease trap had not been cleaned in a long time, which actually caused a small fire. We were able to handle it but this is something that should be maintained moving forward.
