"Our hosts Martha and Kristophe were incredibly welcoming and helpful, going above and beyond in helping us secure a dinner reservation, making sure every element of our stay was the best it could be and even met us as we were loading up for our departure to provide traffic updates and suggesting an alternate route to save us from road works delays. The rooms are very comfortable, very clean, well amenities and remarkably quiet. The parking is secure and totally convenient. I cannot recommend 88 Baron von Reese Guesthouse highly enough."

"This was our first safari experienced in Africa and loved every minute. We loved the whole ethos of Sanbona .... they are creating a wildlife reserve that is a true representation of the semi-arid Little Karoo. There may not be as many animals here as on other large-scale reserves further east but we were privileged to see many species, including witnessing lions chasing an Eiland through the gorge. Our guide, Ryan, was wonderful ... SO knowledgeable, calm, funny and totally passionate about the animals and the whole ecology of the reserve; their ethos surrounding sustainability is outstanding. The scenery is both vast & beautiful. Rooms were extremely comfortable, service from all staff excellent; we felt valued as guests, particularly regarding the "extras" we received as celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary; a big "thank you" for that. One small area of disappointment was that the food was a little lacking at times, in comparison to other venues we have stayed on our trip. We would return in a heartbeat!"

"This is one of our favorite half-way stops on our way down to Cape Town. Wildernis is a quant little town with world-class restaurants and The Wildernis Hotel is such a great place to stay. Lovely pool, padel, tennis and mini-golf facilities. Excellent breakfasts! And very, very friendly staff."

"Wonderful experience from start to finish. Beautiful surroundings and wonderful food. Hotel staff were always friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our chats with Theo and Grant. Our booked Meerkat experience was cancelled due to heavy rain but Theo offered to rearrange that for the following morning - and we are so glad not to have missed that! Grant was a wonderful young man - extremely patient with my husband’s beer selection and very helpful with advice on places to visit. A fantastic place to stay!"

"Brilliant glamping safari style. Great view over the mountains from the tents and you can see many springbok amongst others coming to drink from the dam. The pool was a great way to cool off after a hot day. "
