Everything was great but we had internet issues. All the staff were excellent in customer service most especially Scion from Myanmar.
Great location, very nice and clean room. Reception especially helpful with all our requests and helping us arrange our luggage to be forwarded to the next hotel.
In the heart of it all.. what a great location. All the hotels in the surrounding area are extremely over priced with less of a view. This hotel is amazing with affordable prices. They exceeded my expectations. I would definitely stay here again. Only thing is that the hotel should have one more than one employee at the hotel at a time. We had 6 big luggage's and the unfortunate sweet girl had to carry all of them to the third floor (we had no idea it was just her or we would have helped).. besides understaffed, the hotel is a must. The employees that assisted us during our stay were sweet and helpful.. i HIGHLY recommend this hotel.
The location is second to none and the design is really unique. Super comfortable accommodations, almost luxurious. You won't find anything like it in Kyoto. Exceedingly friendly staff too. Loved it.
This hotel is amazing and the staff working there is awesome and always helpful. It's located right besides the famous 5-storey pagoda. All the attractions in this area are walkable distance. The staff is always there to help with any kind of questions and provide suggestions for anything. The lady (Shun) was always there for us, helped with our luggage and allowed us to do a early check in as well. She is the best. :)
Loved the hotel concept, excellent location, but buyer beware as you are in the heart of congestion and tourism trap central. It’s a busy area. Despite that, hotel is quiet. Amazing coffee shop just on the doorstep of the hotel. Nice to be so close to the sights and enjoy this special neighborhood. Staff were very attentive and friendly. I would stay here again for the experience.
Nice decor, helpful staff and great location.
They should include actual towels instead of bathrobes. Also doors being metal is a problem because you can hear opening/closing from rooms.
Best hotel in Kyoto! We stayed 6 nights here. This hotel is very clean, in a handy location and offers very convenient coin operated laundry facilities. The rooms are large and spacious with an industrial style. There was no TV however we don’t use one when on holiday so this didn’t bother us at all. This was my favourite hotel during our Japan travels. Only negative thing to say is housekeeping didn’t replenish tea/coffee or clean our cups. This hotel is on a hill and can be difficult for vehicles to reach and is very slippery when wet. The roof top was a great spot to chill with a beer watching the sunset!
Incredible location, helpful staff, great style throughout, excellently comfy bed and REAL PILLOWS (which are apparently hard to come by in Japan..) I stayed in a few of these smaller, boutique style mid-range hotels throughout my trip and this was my favourite accomodation by far.
For me it was just the little details; the welcome box, the magnet housekeeping system, the additional blankets/heating for the colder week, bottled water in the fridge, the embossed notepad on the desk - everything was just exactly how it needed to be.
If you have any love of design, interior decoration, brutalist architecture, or just want to be 30 seconds away from beating the crowds to get "that picture" on all the travel blogs - this is your place.
Love the exceptional service. We arrived at 5pm on our check in date and was not able to rent a kimono in time. We were only there for a night and wanted to get photos on the hotel's rooftop. Upon check out, we had reserved to rent a kimono with a shop nearby, so we asked the receptionist if we can leave our luggage and come back to take a few photos on their rooftop. She was more than happy to assist us. This has been one of the best hotels we have stayed in Japan and will surely come back :)
The hotel was very cute inside and it was clean. Loved that it’s so close to the pagoda. The only complaint I have is that the dryer was clearly broken because it made a very loud noise when in use. I was trying to take a nap and it was so loud it woke me up. The dryer also took a very long time to dry my clothes in a small load, so you need to be prepared to spend a good amount of time to do any loads of laundry. The staff was very friendly and I liked the lounge/bar area. Another negative would be that there is a bright light that shines in the window by the front door all night and there’s no curtains to block it out.
A great deal of attention placed on both design, and some vintage Japanese detail which I appreciated. An aesthetic that North Americans may consider hipster/artist chic. Concrete walls, exposed electrical pipes… Worked very well for me. Rooms are unusually spacious. Staff very helpful and English fluent. Just be aware there’s no TV - and it’s a bit of a challenge for taxis to get in there. Mine stopped me offf three blocks away. Wheeling two large suitcases uphill over very uneven stone streets was a challenge. The only negative.
