October stay

This small cottage was fine for my husband and me. It was clean and well stocked and close to the beach. The backyard table, chairs and umbrella are outdated and would benefit from replacement. I think it is overpriced for October, given its size, but overall, it was fine.

Mixed Feelings

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Pros: Small comfy cottage, not far from the beach. It had the basic essentials. Good for a couple. Beyond that it may get crowded, at least for us. The neighborhood was quiet, even right next to the ferry. We could only hear it if outside. The neighbors were very friendly. (not always the case when you have a rental in a neighborhood).Cons: There was an iron, but no ironing board. The door to the front sunroom was heavy and tough to open. We spent a lot of time in here with the windows open. There was too much stuff in this room. Dresser and large table need to go. The table on the back patio basically crumbled when I went to sit down. The bottom ring that connects that table legs was only connected (barely) to 2 legs. I fixed it. The outdoor toilet... on hot days, there was a not very pleasant aroma along the side of the house and out back. We had to keep resetting the ice machine and no the tray wasn't full. Only one bed was really comfy. The other larger bed was as hard as the floor.For the rate we paid, we could have had a much larger, more comfy rental for the same week. We think the rate should be adjusted to match what is offered. Some little updates here and there would definitely make it more appealing. The windows had been replaced which likely helped keep the sound out.

It was just as described… I reached out to owners as I saw a bad review about the outdoor furniture. They said they were replacing it and they indeed replaced it. Loved the location as we are bikers. And Cape Henlopen bike trails are so close. It was nicely stocked and cozy.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great stay at 10 Texas Ave. It was the perfect place for us (a couple) and our little beagle mix. While surrounded by large, modern beach houses, this classic little beach cottage holds its own. Excellent location. Downtown Lewes is about a mile north, the gorgeous Cape Cape Henlopen State Park about a mile south. The bike trails are amazing as are the local beaches on the sound and ocean. The cottage was clean and well stocked.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: From the outside, Nice little DOG FRIENDLY house but it is NOT renter friendly. Owner, please use integrity. Please repair torn, decaying Porch screens and clean out dead insects. Many Casement windows do not open. I was locked in do to porch door please replace; getting stuck and NO back door or egress window for safe exit, calledagent. No handle in bathtub, shower head replace too high and dirty. Laundry washer dirty visual green build up causing moldy smell.I purchased special oxi cleaner but did not help.Bathroom No place for my towels, closet has owners stuff.Bedroom no drawers etc for clothes,need lamp for reading, bedspreads too bulky, why are there sheets on bed? Oversized Living room furniture is terrible. Kit. No toaster oven, no ceramic dish to bake food, replace big table get shelves for renter to use all cabinets are housing other stuff. With all the rain, smelled urine in a.m.back bedroom and in no-door-closet. Check sewer maybe outside toilet, only used hose on dog. I paid extra for dog friendly yard could not use, why not mow the weeds in yard and spray Wondercide natural product you have LOTS of dangerous ticks, fix gate latch.Repair Front house door bottom lock, when locked just push it andwill open. I love little cottages but this poor home really needs TLC and repairs. For the cost of its rent please repair so I can return....
