"We absolutely loved our stay aboard the The Queen Mary. The staff were all so lovely, friendly and helpful throughout our visit, and the paranormal ghost tour was fantastic — our tour guide really made the experience memorable. My only critique would be that the group was a little too large, and would benefit from smaller groups.
It was such a unique experience staying aboard a mostly original ship. Walking through the corridors and public rooms genuinely felt like stepping back in time; probably the closest most of us will ever get to experiencing the atmosphere of the Titanic.
We also had great food at both the Promenade Café and the Chelsea Chowder House — everything we ate was delicious.
The only downside, which was completely out of the staff’s control, was that the room temperature couldn’t really be adjusted and it was very cold at times. We were also gutted to miss seeing the original first class dining room, as it was either closed for an event or only accessible through a specific tour that we unfortunately didn’t have time to do.
Overall though, such a memorable stay and somewhere we’d absolutely recommend for the history, atmosphere and experience alone."
"Highlight: Very kind staff and easy check in
Cons:
- Parking is a nightmare and expensive ($35/night) good luck finding a spot again if you leave. That parking structure is 80% reserved for the other revolving businesses. They basically force you to just valet.
- The bathroom toilet didn’t flush correctly or at all at times. We’ve never been so afraid to go #2. They do offer an online form to report these issues. I’m sure they would have been attentive. We didn’t want to test it. So we only peed and left for other business. This just shouldn’t be a concern.
- There’s this heavy funk of mildew everywhere. It smelled like mold and water damage. (We were on the 3rd floor)
- The AC was set to 70 but stayed at 61. Not the worst issue (could have been too hot) but the AC should be adjusted to our preference.
- There isn’t much security in the facility so you get overspill from the local streets roaming around.
- It’s a hood hotel and with it comes the drama. People are trash here.
This stay reminded us why we don’t do hotels and stick to Airbnb’s. Never again."
"Cool, non-chain boutique hotel in Long Beach Arts District. Cool staff; good room; excellent AC; nice decor. Close to good places to go. We are very satisfied."
"I had a mixed experience during my recent stay. While the room was clean and suitable for my needs, and the pool area is quite nice, there were significant service and value issues that would make me hesitant to return.
Dining: Be aware that the restaurants are separate organizations from the hotel. The breakfast options are very expensive ($28 USD for the buffet), and unfortunately, the quality did not match the price. The pastries and French toast were not fresh. Furthermore, while the front desk stated breakfast was served until 10:00 AM, the staff began closing the buffet at 9:30 AM, making us feel rushed. I would recommend looking for food options off-site.
Guest Shuttles: There seems to be a major lack of communication between management and front desk staff regarding guest transportation. We were initially offered a shuttle to the Long Beach Exchange (LBX), but when we called for the return trip as instructed, the agent claimed they "don't do shuttles for guests." While they eventually honored the ride, the interaction was unprofessional and made us feel like a significant inconvenience.
Overall, while the physical property is well-maintained, the lack of coordination between departments and the poor value of the breakfast made for a frustrating stay."
