Waldstaetterhof Swiss Quality Hotel

8/10 Good

"So this hotel deserves the highest rating (perfect location - opposite the train station and 2mins walk into centre of town, room was modern, really large for Europe standards and very very clean, plus the staff were extremely friendly) but there’s one big issue - the hotel has no air conditioning so my overall recommendation would be to stay here anytime except July/August. We had large windows that opened, a pedestal fan and there is a basic air circulation system but the inside temp remained at an unbearable 27 degrees overnight which is a struggle after spending all day outside walking in 30 degree heat. Aircon is not common in Switzerland, older buildings would be costly to retro fit and they were having a heatwave but heatwaves now occur every summer and it’s unacceptable to not provide this basic comfort just as it would be deemed unacceptable to not have heating in the winter. Long term it will only be the hotels who offer aircon that guests stay at in summer."

The Lubo - self check-in

"The Lubo is a quick bus ride or walk from the train station. It's not hard to find and the staff at the bar/Cafe downstairs are very helpful. Check in is easy on the phone or the kiosk. The most difficult part is the stairs in the hotel and finding the room. There are a few stairs to get into the hotel and on every floor. Make sure you are not travelling with a million suitcases. I would go scout out your room first. Otherwise, for the price and location, the hotel is great. There's a mini kitchenette that we didn't use and close to everything."

"The hotel is a smaller boutique style building a very safe neighborhood. It has several metro stations nearby and from outside you can the Eifel Tower. There are many seasonably priced cafes and restaurants around the hotel. It is nice, clean, and safe. The staff is welcoming, breakfast was good, and everything was clean. I will stay here again and recommend it to my friends and family."

"This is an amazing place, with perfect location to chapel bridge and 15 mins walk to Lion Monument. Air conditioning was working perfectly to beat the scorching heat and complementary ice creams ensured kids were staying cool. Amazing staff. Koina (may be butchering her name) was amazing server and Peter is a great bar tender. Also other staff, that I do not remember names are amazing. Hats off to the everyone working here and their friendliness to help us navigate the places around. Will stay here again when I visit."
