“This is a lovely, clean and inviting B&B - made exceptional by the couple who run it. My room and the whole place felt spacious, the views are lovely (across fields down to the harbour), and also the location is great even if you don't have your own transport. I'm vegan, and not only was there plenty to choose from, but they'd have got in more had my message got through the system soon enough! I had fresh fruit and toast every morning, and having breakfast cooked to order was so nice, too……

“This is a great family-run hotel whose owners and family work their socks off to ensure you have a nice stay. The highlight of the hotel is restaurant and pub, which serves really lovingly prepared meals using local ingredients, good portions and honest prices. The staff are all really friendly and there’s a great choice of local beers and whiskeys to try. Of course, its location just in front of the port with its ferry terminal and bus centre is also a highlight too - just roll out of bed……

“Staff was very accommodating. The large tub with jets was relaxing. The central location was excellent. Hot breakfast and selection was very good. We plan to come back. Highly recommend.”

“Pros: excellent location right in front of the ferry to the outer islands; top-notch breakfast in the main hotel, especially the porridge and chia oatmeal pots; really friendly and helpful staff available 24-7 Cons: you are staying in the annexe of the main hotel and that’s not clear from the hotel description which I know isn’t the hotels fault entirely but something to talk to Expedia about. This wouldn’t have been such a problem but upon arrival the shore building is a little worse for wear……

“Perfect stay! Conveniently located a 15min walk from Kirkwall centre, and plenty of free parking at the property. The room was spacious, well furnished, clean, and a comfortable bed. Fyona was an excellent host; warm and friendly full of knowledge. Breakfast was delicious, setting up perfectly for whatever the day brought.”

“We had a great stay here. Located in a historic building and a stones throw from the cathedral so easy walking distance to Kirkwall attractions and easy access to roads for all parts of the island. Very friendly welcome and a tasty breakfast each morning. It is a historic building so stairs and corridors but clean and safe with a comfy bed, what more do you need? We would happily go back to Orkney and hopefully when we do we will be able to book the West End Hotel for our stay.”

“We were warmly welcomed by the staff on arrival and when they showed us up to the room we fell instantly in love with the sea view. The room was very clean and in good shape. What’s more, we ate in the restaurant and the food was fresh, locally sourced and also great value for money when compared to other local options.”
