The owners have painstakingly ensured this Grade II listed cottage offers everything and more any group would need to enjoy a home-from-home holiday. The cream wooden units in the kitchen set off this beautifully furnished room well-equipped with all you will need and more.
The living room has a Smart TV for guests to enjoy and a gas coal-effect fire and comfortable sofas make this ideal for any time of the year, but especially ideal for those cosy winter nights. Upstairs the property boasts three beautiful bedrooms, one with en-suite facilities and a family bathroom fitted with a shower over the bath. The property has the most fabulous gardens to explore with its very own meadow across from the cottage for guests to use, and lets not forget the bridge across Catmints very own stream running through the meadow.
The parish of Dethick, Lea and Holloway is steeped in history and Lea is also recorded in the Domesday Book as Lede; the famous Florence Nightingale spent much of her early life at Lea Hurst. The peaceful village of Lea offers visitors friendly pubs, tea rooms, restaurants and the famous John Smedley factory. Rural Derbyshire is a real treasure trove offering everything for the visitor including country houses, historic halls, medieval ruins, heritage railways, cycleways, beautiful unspoilt countryside and pretty villages. One of the closest attractions to Lea Hall is the Heights of Abraham. Built on the site of historic lead mining, the hilltop park is approached by cable car which rises up and offers some spectacular views of the Derwent Valley and surrounding Peak District. Visitors can tour the network of caverns and passageways left behind and explore the 60 acres of woodland hillside and buy souvenirs at the gift shop. Alternatively, for those who appreciate stately homes and gardens, magnificent Chatsworth House is highly recommended, as well as Haddon Hall and Lyme Park, all of which have been film or TV locations over the years.
We had a fantastic weekend at Catmint Cottage. It is in a beautiful location and had everything we needed. The bedrooms were spacious and the living room and kitchen were warm and cosy, perfect for sitting around chatting. We would definitely go again.

We had a lovely few days at Catmint Cottage, it was lovely and toasty on a very frosty weekend.
We had a lovely few days at Catmint Cottage, it was lovely and toasty on a very frosty weekend. The welcome pack was delicious and very appreciated. Our dog loved the private meadow and stream, perfect for cleaning off muddy paws and boots after a walk. The local pub did a fantastic roast dinner and were very welcoming. Beautiful sunrises from the church which is a short walk from the cottage.

A very pleasant base to explore the Peak District
The cottage was absolutely perfect for our requirements. Very homely and a generous welcome pack. The private meadow with swing seat, little bridge and a stream for the children to play in was a massive bonus. Very idyllic. The pub in the village was extremely welcoming and served delicious pub grub. It was so good we went twice! I think we will return to this little piece of tranquility again one day. Thank you for a wonderful break.
