I would start by saying buyer beware! The ad is very misleading. There is no "deposit." There are however, daily resort fees that are NOT listed in the ad. So, if you do book, even though the receipt and the ad shows you that all taxes and fees are included, you'll be paying $35 per day once you get there. And you won't find that out until you show up and don't have a choice. While it's a common practice, it is NOT common to mislead customers and make it sound like a deal that isn't really a deal and is about the same as every other place once you factor in the extra charges. It's called false advertising.
While the hotel itself isn't terrible, there isn't anything that stands out. The ONLY reason I booked is because they didn't include the extra fees so it sounded like I was getting a deal that I wasn't because I had to pay extra when I got there. It's a "boutique" hotel which really means it needs renovating. They offer a free happy hour at a sister property...a mile away...with a sad swimming pool at the same property a mile away. There is a restaurant onsite and it's good Cuban food, but VERY expensive. The only real plus is the location and they give you beach towels, umbrella and chair to use.
Again I could have (and should have) paid virtually the same price at most any other place in the area. At least those ads had a clear listing of extra charges to expect. And many of them were a cut above Hotel Chelsea.
