“Overall the hotel was ok. The bed was hard and a four poster, which wasn’t very tall, so I had quite a few head bumps. We stayed during the cold snap and the room didn’t have great heating, however reception did provide an additional electric radiator which worked perfectly. Overall staff were great, parking was easy, it is dog friendly but not all rooms are from what I could gather so you should check in advance if it’s ok. The restaurant was decent, we had a good meal and my wife really……

“If you go room only breakfast is £10 per head, we don't eat a big breakfast so for us is isn't worth it, we went out for breakfast.”

“Arrived for a 2 day relaxing time away Room was tatty we ssked for a double bed ended up wit 2 singles pushed together restaurant was unclean breakfast was luke warm and dry.used the spa had to buy a padlock from reception that didnt work with code .questioned it and said couldnt do anything with it .very poor .sauna was out of order.hole in the bathroom ceeling where we witnessed a woodlice drop into the bath ..will not be staying again very poor ”

“Gorgeous property, incredible old building and lovely grounds - the bar leads out to a garden where we enjoyed beers and great food, and the kids played hide n seek amongst the impressive topiary. Pool/ steam room etc was lovely and not too busy - heads up that if you have kids, even biggish ones, there are kid-free pool hours (from 5 I think) so if you arrive later in the evening you may not get them in. But the staff were very friendly and accommodating and let my tired kids in for a bit……

“Lovely grounds and room was very clean. Disappointing that breakfast is served in a dark space with no windows when there appears to be other large rooms with windows overlooking the beautiful grounds.”

“No parking available. Carpet filthy and stained. Mould in several places in bathroom and corridor. No wifi whatsoever even though it is advertised. Drunks shouting till 1AM then drunk woman screaming at 3.30 AM. Possibly staff member. Place was full of workmen obviously not caring about dirty work boots. Lack of wifi blamed on the brewery. ”

“James and Hansel were fantastic hosts, very welcoming and helpful, the property itself is in a great location and has a charming character, rooms were clean and tidy and very spacious. Communication was excellent, I would stay again and recommend ”

“Room was clean but very dated however for what we paid we can't really complain. Parking is free in onsite car park you just need to enter registration number at reception. We meet family for a meal, menu typical pub food but all perfectly acceptable and staff very pleasant. Walled outside seating area which was nice for having a drink as weather was warm. The hotel is on the high street so be aware that you will experience some traffic noise especially if your room is at the front. ”

“Staff were friendly. Room was not nice at all. Carpets dirty and damaged. Bathroom had black mould all over the ceiling and smelt very bad. Not a great experience at all. Whole place needs a big revamp ”
