“Ah, what a gem of a place! A bit off the beaten track, but that's exactly what I was looking for and the Galley of Lorn did not disappoint. The overall air is casual, the staff are friendly and chatty, and nothing is too much trouble. The whole interior looks fairly recently updated, but it's left with enough older features to retain some character. The rooms are all named after Scottish islands, and we stayed in Skye. The room is black and gold decor, done well, not at all overstated. Usual……

“Amazing room, with amazing views! We stayed in the sea view lodge that overlooked the loch and had highland cows right outside. The food was amazing, both myself and partner had the chicken balmoral, it was the best chicken balmoral I’ve ever had. Breakfast was excellent also. Overall great night away and would definitely stay again, worth every penny and probably more. ”

“We stayed 2 days and it was excellent. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The large drawing room that overlooks Loch Melfort was also available for us to use which we enjoyed. We enjoyed a delicious 4 course dinner on the evening of our arrival prepared and served by our host Mathew. This was our first visit to Melfort House and hopefully we will be back again soon.”

“Had an overall great stay! Very clean and nice staff. The only thing that’s negative worth mentioning was that it took a very long time to get hot water in the shower and the tub. And after the hot water was running in the tub there was no way to get the cold water running. Except for this, a comfy bed and nice breakfast made this a nice stop along the way. ”
