My wife and I enjoyed our stay at Trapp Family Lodge. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We had breakfast and dinner at the Lodge, and both were delicious, with excellent service. The gardens are well maintained, with plenty of flowering planets to attract birds. The room was relatively standard - very clean, plenty of light, and comfortable bed. We would happily stay there again if we had the opportunity.

Das Hotel liegt in der Nähe des Nationalparks. Die Strecke dort hin ist eine Schotterpiste mit Schlaglöchern von ca 3 km. Es liegt ruhig und schön. Die Mountainsuite ist in die Jahre gekommen und hat auch kein Kühlschrank. Heizung gibt es auf Anfrage ohne Aufpreis. Leider sind die Fenster sehr undicht und klappern bei starkem Wind. Da ist aber Geschmacksache. Das Frühstück sollte für ein vier Sterne Hotel besser sein. Hier fehlte einfach die Auswahl und Qualität. Der Orangensaft schmeckt sehr künstlich. Der Personal ist aber sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Ich empfehle die Nachtrour in der Finca Latana die über das Hotel gebucht werden .

Breakfast of delicious fresh fruit and coffee with traditional Costa Rican food was offered in a beautiful setting each morning. There were also options for travellers who preferred more western options like toast and pancakes. Staff was efficient and attentive and very kind

Our room was really nice and comfortable. Grateful for the extra blankets, as it got surprisingly chilly at night! The included breakfast was excellent. Restaurant food was good but not amazing.

Mountain view rooms are spacious and worth it. They should consider adding fridges to the rooms. Food was delicious and very well priced in the restaurant. Staff was really great! Close to Cloud forest and short drive into town.

Secluded location (right down the road from the Monteverde Cloud Forest) with beautiful views of the mountains. Walked into town, which was quite a hike but hiking was the reason for my trip to begin with! Santa Elena is very picturesque with plenty of amenities and catching a cab ride back to my hotel was no problem. Wish they would have had a safe in the room, but other than that i would highly recommend!

It was cold and eainy. The room had no heat. Staff brought in a portable heater which didnt work that great. Toilet and shower need to be upgraded. Staff was courteous and attentive. Breakfast and dinner was great.

The staff were the best thing here, friendly, efficient and very helpful. The parking was convenient. Bar and food OK, room spacious and clean but poor shower. Location convenient for the park but a long way from town. Given the rural location and clientele staying there because of their interest in nature it would have been nice to see some effort to attract wildlife, whether planting certain plants to attract birds or frogs etc, or simply hanging some hummingbird feeders.

When we arrived, we reflected back on some of the mixed reviews. The staff was very friendly. The location was perfect for accessing the Cloud Forrest (5 mins away)-less than 10 minute drive to town- not far at all, if you wanted to eat at a restaurant in town. The decor was pretty dated, but we had just come from the Springs Lodge, so we were pretty spoiled and probably needed a reality check!! as far as having a pool or hot tub, we weren’t there for those activities. We were there to see the Cloud Forrest and zip line, so none of that mattered. I’d recommend having one meal at the lodge and then having some meals in town. Also, they offer a heater at the front desk and it was perfectly adequate to warm up along with our big blankets. The view and the surrounding gardens were gorgeous and the configuration of the room maximizes this with a glassed in front sitting area. We were traveling with our daughters 20 and 22 and it was fine to share one room for 2 nights.
