「I’ve been going to St Croix for 12 years and need to advise that if you’re looking for a 5 star luxury hotel / resort; you’re on the wrong island; goto St Thomas. Hotels here are mainly historic / small, which keeps with the island. With that said I loved staying at this hotel. It’s 300 years old; very clean, in the heart of everything, just feet from the restaurants / shops / water. The manager is on site. 「Rooms need a deep clean to get rid of all the sand from previous guests. Wasn’t a very welcoming or friendly hotel. The very nicest people who work there are the guards at the gate. So nice. Everyone else, didn’t really care. Based on others’ reviews we skipped the pool and restaurants. The beach was pretty but that’s all the resort has going for it. 」

「I’ve traveled to various European destinations in Mexico and South America, but I’ve never encountered a five-star hotel with such a poorly maintained system. The patio was littered with discarded boards, and the shower leaked. The housekeeping left dirty towels in the rooms, and there were even dead roaches on the floor. My children had bites on their arms and legs when they woke up in the morning, which I suspect were bed bugs. I called the hotel and notified the front desk as soon as I left...
