Hotel needs a major upgrade. The bathrooms are not the greatest. I had no hot water, had to always go down to get towels, as the housekeeper would only leave one. The outlet covers were falling off. Microwave was all wonky and unstable. The bedside lamp didn’t work. The bed was comfortable and the front desk staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful (the graveyard lady was the best) The windows need all the film cleared up as you can’t see out them clearly. One of our room (2 queen beds) was barely larger than a closet with no outside light at all. I’ve stayed here twice but will most likely find another place that is more updated. The Blake is conveniently located to everything though. The price you pay is not worth what they charge as it reminds me of a highway budget motel.

The room was in good condition and the staff was courteous, however, our last night (Feb 2nd) my friends, my husband and I were stuck in the lobby of the hotel due to a power outage in the building which affected use of the elevators. We sat there in the cold with blankets while the electric company checked and said there was no issue from the electric company providing power to the building but there was an issue with the circuitry within the building. We were finally told the electrician to the building would have to fix the issue. We climbed 7 flights of stairs to get to our room (701). This was inconvenient and painful as I have a leg injury. This put a damper on the last day of our trip. This is an older hotel however it is well kept. Unfortunately, there was an issue with the electricity during our stay. This may be partly due to the weather. The power was restored.

After reading so many recent negative reviews, I prepared for the worst. I was pleasantly surprised. The front desk employee was efficient and kind. My room looked good. I checked it thoroughly before dropping off my bags. It was clean enough. Especially the bed. Everything was in good order. The hotel was quiet. I slept well. The only negative was the water pressure in the shower. It was one of the weakest showers I have ever had. But, if you stand under it long enough, everything rinses off. The bathroom floor could’ve looked a little cleaner, but sometimes that is the nature of travertine. It looks dirty even when it’s clean. I would stay there again for the value. It’s also very well located.

When arriving my reservation wasn’t appearing in their system, the AC had not worked at all, staff didn’t exactly attend to our calls when requesting extra towels or sheets due to the cold weather happening.
